The last moment we saw Sami on the fields of Anfield Road. The last moment we saw Sami don the captain's armband as he led the Reds. And, the last moment we saw Sami playing in the Red shirt.
 
Sami, thank you for 10 years of service. You will be sorely missed by us. 10 years of great commitment, passion, and dedication to Liverpool FC. And that sums up what you are, a legend.

We all, will welcome you with open arms to the coaching department one day. Thank you, for those moments of joy.

Sami can now change from being a current legend, to being simply a legend in the history of Liverpool Football Club.

A glorious 10 years of service has passed all too quickly, a player that will be missed for many reasons; his defensive supremacy, his aerial ability and his tremendous professionalism.

Hopefully this is not goodbye, but see you soon.

What a way for Sammi to come on, take the armband of present captain and wear it for the last time. Sammi you were the best buy for this club during the Prem years. Nice to see you in the Captains armband for your final bow. What a player, what an ambassador for this club you have been. Thank you Sammi Hyppia.....

Sami is a true Anfield legend, and we'll miss him - not many players can spend 10 top class years at a club, and he has done that faultlessly with a level of devotion for our mighty club, that many could be ashamed of.

10 years at the greatest club in the world is a phenomenal achievement and in all Liverpool fans he is a Liverpool legend.

A brilliant defender but an even better proffessional.

It's not the end of an era quite yet, it's just a short break. He'll be back, I just know it.

As a young boy growing up I had Hansen Lawrenson as our 2 centre backs covered by Gillespie. By the time I was in my teens when football became life I had Nicky Tanner Torben Piechnik, Neil Ruddock, Phil Babb and Bjorn Kvarme. Only Mark Wright and John Scales seemed to be decent. Then it happened. An unknown Finnish lad from a Dutch club I never heard of signed for us for 2.5 million. The rest is history

Commanding in the air comfortable on the ball, strong, great tackler, great brain and could score goals. The trophies flooding back with him in the team is no coincidence. Ron Yeats is known as the colossus but I'm sure he'd be happy to share the tag with big Sami

I always respect great players no matter who they play for and he is a top draw defender its just a shame he never graced a major international event .

He is a model pro and the young lads should look up to players like him.

I seen the big Finn in one of first games for us against the arse in '99.  To be honest i thought he was decent, but i didn't think he would become the legend that he has.  In the early 00's himself and Henchoz were a great pair, and he carried that into his partnership with Carra.  I'm sure Carra would be the first to admit he has learnt so much from playing with Sami.

In an era were players ego's are even bigger than their pay packets, Sami has remained an outstanding professional on and of the pitch.

He leaves with my thanks for a great 10 years, and i wish him every continued success in whatever he choses to do in the future, hopefully his future includes a return to Anfield.
