He is a striker. As for Riera, he can go to Russia  ;D
We already have creative wingers. What we need is a play maker like we had (Lucho) or someone who can pass the damn ball right.
You can give us Gerrard  :lmao:

The only blemish was Glen Johnson again. Took his man on and won zero out of 4 or 5 attempts. Kept playing the long ball, didn't get a cross in and was shaky in his tackling. Used strength well on Di Maria at times but still, not enough.

I'll look past it though :D

I said he did well against Di Maria but the bloke saw very little of it and in the end, he attacked more than defended and not up to standard.

EDIT: I'm not on a crusade against him so can you stop pointing me out when he does well or someone says he has done so.

How is keeping one of the top young talents in Europe not enough what did you want Crouch him to get a couple of goals as well, would you not think Rafa told him to be more defensive against Benficas danger man.

He said Di Maria can be world class you were saying last night he was over rated and Benfica fans were telling you he wasn't that good.

Mate if crouch doesn't rate him as highly as you, do you need to keep whinging about it? Post-match thread of a 4-1 win, lets just keep it to congratulatory ass-slapping shall we ;D

I just woke up a bit a go and im still F***ing buzzing. I love a win any time, but a big win with some big retribution for the illegal match a week ago just feels so much better. Ah, love it!!!

As for Di Maria, most mediatic player, we (Benfica fans) like him, but I think is a bit overrated. Obviously, he's got pace, technique, dribble (very good at 1v1 actions, passing the opponent defender) and crosses attributes. However, sometimes he lack composure and have poor decisions.

That is from a Benfica fan.

What a goal!! That was pin point that. Picking up on one of your points rickyman, I wouldn't want to see Di Maria at Liverpool. I don't think he's the Liverpool type player. Reminds me of Ronaldo, very proud and cares about himself more than the team. Thats just the impression I get from him. Welcome to the forums though, and great post.

Jaysus YNWA you don't have to suck up to the mods so much I was having a debate with Crouch sorry if it annoyed you.

Crouch said something last night which I disagreed with about Di Maria a Porto fan posted a message today saying how good he was, like us saying how good a Utd player is.

I YNWA was actually defending one of our players from a remark Crouch made.

      Love your comeback.

Looks like Porto are having similar problems to us.

As a Porto fan, I don't think Di Maria is overrated.
I mean, c'mon the talent is there... he is really young and has a career in front of him. He just has to make the right choises and work as hard as he can and play for his team wich he still can't.
      Same for Hulk of FCP.
Obviously the media put some pressure on this type of players and they just need to control the fame.
C.Ronaldo did it. Quaresma didn't and now look where Ronaldo is and where Quaresma is.  :D

Spot on.  It's actually incredible how much the media has an affect on people - not our club particularly, but those looking from the outside in.

Even this morning for example - I ended up in a large debate whilst getting my haircut for F**k's sake!

It's been a really strange season in terms of the 'fashion' to criticise our club.  Just don't give into it is all you can do I guess.

      Your not wrong.

I had some 'Liverpool fan' trying to bash the team in a pub i don't usually go in the other day. Kept repeating the same tired old lines that the papers use. The icing on the cake though was him telling me he didn't rate Reina and thought he had a gash season so far. Brilliant, you couldn't make it up. I politely told him if it wasn't for Reina we could be in a deeper pit of sh*t. He is probably one of the few players who has kept any sort of consistency all season.

Sums up last night to a tee that.

Still smiling and admiring that performance. Can't get over just how good that third goal was, back to front and side to side ending up with a goal.

How good were we last night! very hard to pick MOTM but mine is Agger ,simply because he played out of position, did very well, comfortable bringing the ball out ,though Yossin and Lucas shone last night also ....but what more can you say about Nando? makes the hardest finishes look easy despite getting' mugged 'most of the game !did these officials have Benfica season tickets? i just could not get my head around their decisions ,crowd let them know their views last night too, were in good voice !brilliant game, brilliant performance YNWA ,,

You know me Res mate, any win gets me going over board on praise. ;) Nothing beats a Liverpool victory.

And while I'm here, I'll say it once more - what a F***ing win. Benfica didn't even deserve to be on the same pitch as us, I was even feeling sorry for them by the end. Just shows the difference in class though doesn't it, they tw*t the bitters 5-0 we tw*t them 4-1. Bitters a big club? Nah.
