      Australia
Goalkeepers: Adam Federici (Reading), Eugene Galekovic (Adelaide United), Brad Jones (Middlesbrough), Mark Schwarzer (Fulham)

Defenders: Michael Beauchamp (Al-Jazira), David Carney (FC Twente), Scott Chipperfield (FC Basel), Shane Lowry (Aston Villa), Mark Milligan (JEF United), Craig Moore (Unattached), Lucas Neill (Galatasaray), Jade North (Tromso), Luke Wilkshire (Dinamo Moscow), Rhys Williams (Middlesbrough)

Midfielders: Mark Bresciano (Palermo), Tim Cahill (Everton), Nicky Carle (Crystal Palace), Jason Culina (Gold Coast United), Brett Emerton (Blackburn Rovers), Richard Garcia (Hull City), Vince Grella (Blackburn Rovers), James Holland (AZ Alkmaar), Brett Holman (AZ Alkmaar), Mile Jedinak (Genclerbirligi), Tommy Oar (FC Utrecht), Carl Valeri (Sassuolo), Dario Vidosic (FC Nurnberg)

Strikers: Josh Kennedy (Nagoya Grampus), Harry Kewell (Galatasaray), Scott McDonald (Middlesbrough), Nikita Rukavytsya (FC Twente)

Loving that Galekovic made the squad. Won't get a start, but he's still done well to make it!

Honestly don't think we'll make it out of the group stages unless we get everything perfectly right though, just don't think we have enough proper quality.

It'll be Ghana and Germany going through, i feel. Australia don't have that depth in quality to make it further.

31 man squad. Will be tough to trim that down. With not much quality, will Pim go for quality or versatility. Probably a mix of both but primarily quality.

That front line looks so weak. Kennedy isn't going great in China, Mcdonald is woeful for Australia (albeit hasn't been given a sustained run), Kewell is injury prone and a second striker at best and Rukavytsya isn't the best player around to say the least.

They'll need a sh*t load of luck here the Socceroos.

why is Paul Robinson not in contention to be no 1?
As far as I can see he probably won't even go......

Look where Blackburn finished in the table
Compare it to Portsmouth (James) and West Ham (Green)

I think Robinson has improved a lot recently. Also has already played in major international finals which is an advantage

Anyone know when the England squad is announced?

      I'd pick (23):

      GK - Hart, James, Green
DEF - G. Johnson, Carragher, Terry, Ferdinand, King, A. Cole
MID - Gerrard, Lampard, Barry/Hargreaves (whoever is fit), Carrick, J. Cole, A. Johnson, Lennon, Milner, Downing
FW - Rooney, Defoe, Crouch, Heskey, Zamora

Nope. Bent is good, don't get me wrong, but just not good enough for the WC.

Walcott brings nothing with him that Lennon doesn't already have. Lennon is easily just as fast, has better ball control, more skill, and better delivery.

I would take this is coming from a Scot

      GK- James, Hart, Carson

DEF- Johnson, Terry, Ferdinand,Cahill,  Carragher, Cole, Baines

MID- Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick, Cole, Wallcot, Lennon, Milner, Young

CF- Bent, Ronney, Crouch, Defoe, Zamora

Thought Darren Bent and Carlton Cole deserves a mention as well.

Probably need another left back there, Res. Since Bridge won't go, it's either Warnock or Baines.

      Right, there.
IMO, Walcott's final ball is really poor. Lennon gives better crosses.

^ ^ Not just because he is a Utd player, but Carrick isn't up to it IMO. Would much sooner take Parker/Hardgreaves

would put money on Capello only taking 4 strikers for the simple reason I think he will play a similar formation to the one we play now.

      I'd take.

      GK:Hart,Robinson,James

      DEF:Johnson,Carra,Ferdinand,Terry,Dawson,King,A.Cole,Baines

      MID:Gerrard,Lampard,Barry,Carrick,J.Cole,Milner,Young,Lennon

ATT:Rooney,Defoe,Crouch,Heskey/Cole (Think Cole deserves it but not sure how he would cope at the big stage.)

EDITED:Some how forgot 2 names. Sorted noow.

Incidentally, looking back at the first post - that Spain squad has only one winger in Silva.

Granted, they have quality in abundance, but so do England, Brazil, Germany, Argentina. And they all have better wide-men, and a better defence.

Mata and Pedro are also wingers though.

      + Navas.
If anything Silva is less of a winger than those 3

Hmmm. I don't understand why they'd list them as forwards. Was only looking at midfielders.

      My bad.
