Well my family clapped him , so that makes us idiots does it !!
We clapped him for the fact that he was a fantastic player for us , he was wearing the Red of Liverpool and he turned out for his mate's testimonial knowing that some sections of the crowd would boo him. We clapped him because we're Reds not bitter Blues ! Oh , and because Carra asked us NOT to boo.
Always thought we were better than that lot across the park. Maybe I was wrong.
To be fair, giving him no reaction makes us better than the bitters. And that's what I, and many others around the ground did including a few others on this forum.
We didn't boo him. We didn't cheer him. We practically ignored him.
Carra asked the fans not to boo, that doesn't mean we have to dance and prance instead. Before Carra said anything, I'm sure a great deal of fans were going to ignore Owen anyway. It wasn't the game for us to boo him. It was Carra's testimonial, and that at the end of the day is what we were all for. Nobody went to cheer or boo Owen, they went to show their thanks for the service from Jamie Carragher and to help support his 23 Foundation.
