We of course have all said it - banter in conversations with mates, and joking of course. Listen to them - do they sound like they are joking? Twice he says it as well, before the incident has even happened then again when it happens. You can tell that he is seriously holding the belief that there should not be a woman out there. And then the microphone incident is just plain stupidity - he is at work for fucks sake, does anyone actually believe they could get away with that at work?
Too many people are blurring the lines between banter with mates at home, and professional behavior at work. And even more so, actual opinions. I make jokes (occasionally) but am very careful who i say it around. I would only ever say it when im with close mates and then i would be laughing as well after, because i am joking. These guys were not laughing, they were seriously condemning her due to her gender.
What are you confused about? I don't like Glynns opinion on the matter, and yes it annoys me. Not saying i don't like him, think he's a good lad, just think he doesn't understand the situation very well.
My partner of a couple years hardly understands the rule either - but then i know plenty of men that don't either! Some of my best mates back in Australia would not even know where to start in explaining the offside rule, and i have met people in England who don't have a clue either. It's nothing to do with gender, but Gray and Keys both were seriously discussing incompetence based on gender - that is seriously wrong.
Stop blurring the lines people. They were at work, and were not joking. Totally different than a joke with a beer and mates.
