      Newcastle have cancelled their presser.

Must be a goer this one.

Could be about Stephen Ireland to be fair.

He could work really well with Suarez. Win alot of headers from crosses/corners, decent with his feet. He's young, too.

Suarez and Carroll could form a very good little partnership, IMO.

      But £30M is ridiculous.

He'll win a lot of headers alright, but who'll cross the ball in? We have no wingers.

Are we panic buying paying over 30m for Carroll? I think he's a super player but for over 30m!!! Its a bit much.

For the sake of argument (and only that) for those who concern themselves with other's money:

      Torres out:  Â£45m + Babel out:  Â£6m = £51m

We've spent (circa) £23m on Suarez leaving £28m to spend - at £30m Carroll will have cost 'us' only £2m; at £35m 'we' will have spent only £7m.

By the way: You lads from Dublin pay over the odds every time you buy a pint, or twenty smokes, without blinking an eye. ...i'm guessing it's because you think 'it's' worth it.  ;)

Ignore the price-tag or cost (it's not my F***ing money after all) the question is: will he add to the team and help us win games and trophies?

      I'm saying yes.

      Agreed mate.

I'd rather buy him than be stuck with 30 million we cant spend in the summer. Very good player. If we need a number 9 I would take Carroll before Gomez, but definitely get the deal done today.

      F**k me...

People complaining about us over spending, but after the last 6 transfer windows frankly I don't give a sh*t! I'm loving this (minus Nando being whoppish) :D

      Sign them all I say!

I'm getting excited about this one now. I've watched him several times and wished that we could get him but it looked like Spuds or Chavs were more likely destinations at the time.
I know some of you have your doubts but I'll be made up if we do sign him and we'd certainly have a front line that will fight for a win.

      $35m that's about £22m so I'd doubt that. Probably 35m in real money.  ;D

We still use pounds over here.  Apart from that you're right.

Good player in my view.  Huge statement of intent from the board.

Obviously Caroll is this expensive because we're getting him this late before the deadline. But if we're getting Caroll for 35, then we should be selling Torres for 60 million. It seems we're drawing the short end of the stick with these deals when it comes to money. Though that's mostly Torres' fault for handing in the F***ing transfer request.

If we sign Carroll for 35 million, I'm going to be slightly embarrassed as a fan.

Forget the money would a Carrol and Suarez partnership be better than a sulky Torres?.Oh yes.

30million it way too high. Bent went for 24million for a proven PL striker. He is having a good season and we may need a striker, but not for that price.
