That said, interesting news about Enrique for two reasons. First, he's played with Carroll and appears to be able to ping in a good cross, so that's an immediate comfort factor for both players. 2nd, if we're trying to keep Reina, having another Spanish player, particularly at the back line, is a step in making Pepe happier here.

I'd prefer Coentrao, but if Enrique is significantly cheaper it allows us to spend in other areas. He's a decent LB.

Link works fine for me. He didn't any saying about a 15 million price tag from that short video. IMO the fee looks like total guess work but I am excited if we get him. Bring on the summer.

They may have been listening, but if you mean January window, then we were told we had no money.  If you mean the summer, damn right, instead of Konchesky.

I wonder if Konchesky is part of any deal?

Would take the lad. 15m, though? I'd look elsewhere and see what we could come up with, and then compare.

According to a Newcastle ITK. We were in for Carroll,Tiote and Enrique in January, but they would only sell us Carroll, but we were always going to come back for Enrique.

I would love this back 4 next season.

Kelly-Cahill-Agger-Enrique

Defensively sound with both Kelly and Enrique able to support the attacks. Glen Johnson is a good attacking outside back but poor defensively. He has cost us goals. All 4 are great defensively, they can distribute the ball and support the attacks if needed.

Moving forward, i think that's an excellent back four Poko.

This "premier league proven" thing is such a load of bullshit.  Coentrao is "world cup proven", Cissokho is "champion's league proven" both are bigger tournaments than the EPL.  On topic, pass - only other EPL LB worth looking at is Baines.

I know what your saying but I would rather have a player proven in the prem over 38 games than a player who is world cup proven over maybe 7 max.

Saw a lot of him in Spain and was amazed he went to Newcastle. Contrea would be my first choice but Enrique is better than Baines.

 Read somewhere the fee being discussed was 8.5M , not the ridiculous 15M. That's realistic considering he'll have 12 months left on his contract with Newcastle in the summer. I'd be happy with this signing, not only because he's quality (not world class though) and proven in PL, but we'll see more of Kelly next season with Enrique than we'd see with Coentrao or Cissokho. We may use a rotation between Johnson, Kelly and Enrique- play Johnson-Enrique, Kelly-Johnson or Kelly-Enrique. Coentrao or Cissokho would not accept staying on the bench I think.

5-7m and konchesky would be a good deal.

Actually Ashley Cole is better than Baines, which is why he plays ahead of him for England!

Plus right now when he comes back from injury, I'd be happy with Johnson carrying on playing there, he's done very well since he moved over from right back and reminds me of the job Rob Jones did, when McAteer was bought.

Only part I can see Konchesky playing in the deal is driving Enrique from the airport to Melwood.

Even Newcastle arn't that desperate.
