Young keepers-Any of them good enough to one day replace Pepe?
      Feb 23, 2011 01:35:25 pm
We have Gulcasi, Bouzanis and Hansen I belive is on loan. Then in the u18's we have Belford and Stephens I belive?
Does anybody think any of these will one day be good enough to be our number one? Gulcasi has been on the bench recently and I've heard lots of good things. Lots of people talked about Bouzanis being good but haven't heard much recently, not sure about Hansen myself, Belford looks OK and haven't seen much of Stephens. So what's everyones opinions on these players?

I hear that Gulacsi is highly rated by Dalglish and the coaching staff. He's looked very good in the reserves but I suppose we won't know until he does get a few games.

I reckon Pepe has a good 9 or 10 years left though. Hopefully with us.

I'd have to say Gulacsi is the most likely one to make it.  Whether he stays around long enough to replace Pepe is another story, providing he doesn't jump ship in the summer.

Yeah hopefully he stays but as much as I hate to say it, I can kind of see Pepe going if we don't get fourth especially since Purslow let a 20m pound release clause get into his contract, I can see him going elsewhere.

Peter Gulacsi out of the ones mentioned is the best.

Do I see him being Liverpool's No. 1 - no.

Gulacsi has potential. Good reactions. I would obviously love if we kept Reina for the next decade. I don't like Hansen I think he makes too many unforced errors

Yeah I think Gulcasi is the one with the most potential, would have liked to see him as 2nd choice from the start of the season, shame Roy wasted 2 million on a keeper older than our number one and not good enough to replace him if he left.

Jones was a signing that showed we had no understanding of the youth and home grown restrictions. Gulacsi would do as good a job

Gulacsi has been on the bench the last few games even though Jones is back from the Asia cup, this suggests Jones has no future here at all to me, so Roy's basically payed was it 2 million? For a player to be back up for half a season and play one carling cup game.

If Reina stays then he could be hear for the next 10 years so that would rule out any of the young lads. If he goes in the summer none of them young lads are ready or good enough to step up and replace him so we will need to spend to bring in a top keeper which means the young lads wont get in.

So overall no none of them will be ever 1st choice. Fact is none are exceptional and without 1st team games on a regular basis wont become so.
