Arsenal will be without Gervinho and Alex Song, both of whom begin three-match bans.

Kieran Gibbs, Johan Djourou, Tomas Rosicky and Armand Traore are all ruled out through injury, while Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby also remain sidelined.

Liverpool full-back Glen Johnson could return from the hamstring injury he picked up in pre-season.

Steven Gerrard is the only definite major absentee as he continues his rehabilitation from a groin problem.

With the Arsenal in turmoil there has never been a better time to break our duck at the Emirates. If we are to be considered true challengers to the top 4 then this is a must win game. If we loose or draw then, even at this early stage of the season, I think top 4 will be difficult. We have to kill teams off and this has to be the start of it, 2-1 to us.

Really? I think this kinda sums up the modern day football supporter. The rants and crazy statements you read on forums or hear on talk shows after matches all stem from this 'win today or else' attitude.

Shankly had to wait SEVEN YEARS to win his 2nd league title. You think he would have got SEVEN years in today's football with today's fans and today's media? No chance.

Like it but Mereiles and Adam shouldn't play together. Lucas and Adam/Mereiles would be better away.

The Arse are there for the taking, but we have to play for 90 mins and not the 45 the players have been playing recently, i think we will prove to strong for them so should take advantage of their weakness, it matters not a jot whether Nasri plays or not we have to concentrate on what we do and work our bollocks off, i honestly cant see anything but a win here for us and get our season up and running, i would love to see Kenny tell Wenger to F**k off again like last season but this time with a couple of goals in front, C'mon Redmen spank those Arses,  1-2 will do for me.

I think Direct and long balls into Carroll might be a good tactic vs Arsenal today.

If we play 4-4-2, think we may struggle, think you will see Arsenal have a lot of possession and see our midfield tire in the second half and you may again see a lot of longball from Carragher to Carroll especially in the second half.

I expect us to cause Arsenal problems from set pieces

Heard Suarez is on the bench, but I think the Poulsen rumour was  joke, at least I F***ing hope it was a joke!

Happy with that team, but I'd have started Raul ahead of Henderson.
