Eh, he kinda is. If you look at the amount of goals that Barca score and see how many he is involved in, you will see that he is not so much a team player. Every attack has to go through him. Barca only play through Messi. Compare his record to the amount scored and assisted by others at other teams, and how the team play certain ways, through different players.

Xavi has said in interviews that he sometimes even just passes to Messi for the sake of it, just because Messi demands the ball so often.

Ibrahimovic is said to have left Barca because Messi wanted to play central and nowhere else, and there was rumours of Villa feeling the same way this year.

I'd take Xabi Alonso back in a heartbeat. Our midfield still has a hole in it since he left. I would like RvP, Messi or someone else but it still may not work without a Xabi Alonso.

Has to be Ronaldo. He has already proven himself in the Prem and isn't really a team player so would score a lot of goals in whatever team he was in.

But you didn't see Maradona live in the 1986 World Cup or live for Napoli in Serie A? Highlights isn't the same as watching a player live in his prime and seeing his genius.

Messi a truly great player. But Real and Barce are so heavily dominant now in the Spanish league Messi and Ronaldo are scoring more goals than ever has been seen in the league. Cristiano Ronaldo's scoring record for Madrid, for example, puts Zidane's to shame. But Zidane was undoubtedly a better player than Cristiano Ronaldo. Indeed Iker Casillas who sees Ronaldo every week said Zidane was the best he ever played with.

Messi needs to do with Argentina what Maradona did to say he is better.

I've watched whatever match you have mate. Italia '90 is imprinted in my memory forever. I saw what Maradonna could do, what Pele, Zidane, Muller, etc. could do. None could do what Messi has.
