I'm happy as a pig in sh*t after that performance. Rodgers tactics and confidence in the young lads are starting to pay off. My man of the match is Assaidi. He give the baggies defence all sorts of problems.
Sahins 2 goals were peaches and Dani was unlucky not to bag a few.F***ing delighted excuse my French.

Missed the game, spent the evening on a bus. Delighted with the result and the positive vibes floating around here tonight! Well in lads!

Just watched the highlights and although it didn't show much it was obvious we played well.

The lads have been playing those tactics for 3 years now mate - it's what Borrell implemented along with Rafa

 Hmmmm. I think Rafa's style and Brendan Rogers style have too many differences to claim that they have been playing this way for three years George. I prefer to give the credit to the person who is implementing the strategy as of now, and that is Mr Rogers. He's got a country mile to go before he can claim to have been as successful as Rafa Benitez was at Liverpool, but when we win matches now HE deserves the credit. I simply cannot believe in a hundred million years that Rafa would have played as many youngsters as Brenden has. Not saying he has been right to do so (although it seems to be working), simply saying it as a statement of obvious fact.

Aye, both have different styles, different formations and a different set of players.

The tactics and style that the first team employ are what they use at the reserve and Under 18 level - they both employ the same and have done for a number of years ( since Rafa wanted full control and employed Borrell to run it ). The reason the young lads are fitting in well is because they have been trained to fit into the system and its been going on for a number years now. You just have to watch the youngsters to see it. They are trained that way because of Borrell and initially Rafa who started it all . Both Woy and Kenny left it up to Borrell . When BR arrived one of the first person he spoke too was Borrell and he was delighted that the youngsters were already being coached to his style hence why he is confident they can fit.

That's were Rafa gets the praise - for starting it all off and restructuring the Academy to what we see now, it's because of that the kids are coming through. He even said they would start coming through within 5 years. I know for some it's loath to give Rafa praise but at least try it through clenched teeth.

They certainly have Shabs, unlike some of our seniors.

Perhaps it's all just a case of Brendan having confidence in the ability of players regardless of age, and them same players believing they are good enough because the manager shows he has faith in them. Man management isnt it. If you're good enough etc etc. There wasn't a manager born who could get a player to believe he was the best on the planet, better than Shanks. Perhaps Brendans taken a leaf from his book, coupled with his own philosophy of keep the ball, and attack at pace. That performance was terrific tonight, lets hope we can keep it going.

The Academy was in a right old state until Rafa arrived . He should be commended no doubt.

My overall assessment of the match is a very good nights work! It was an excellent cup tie. Very full on and West Brom were good tonight. But we were better! After going a goal down I was impressed by the stamp of authority the players put on the game. It was a very good first half performance with some superb control of possession. Second half was much more evenly contested and West Brom were finding a bit of rhythm. There was a brief period in that second half which irritated me though. For a period the defence and goalkeeper kept kicking it long. However they were probably panicking and fearful of doing a Skrtel no doubt so I can forgive them. Great impact sub in the form of Suso and it was brilliant to see Jerome Sinclair make his debut at such a young age. Yesil as well on his debut impressed me as well. His movement and his touch was lovely at times and clearly has an eye for goal. To be a handful on your debut at the age of 17 is a great platform to build on. Assaidi was superb as well. The energy that guy has is brilliant. It felt as though he ran up and down that wing for the full 90 minutes...and he probably did. But the man of the match has to go to Sahin. He was something of a midfield dynamo. A couple of occasions he came deep and received the ball to start movement forward. His one touch play was brilliant with exquisite touch and central to Liverpool's rhythm. And he got two goals as well and a full 90 minutes under his belt. A perfect evening for Nuri Sahin and Liverpool FC (and the club's future) for that matter.
