Good to see Lucas back and a great performance by him, but Enrique was a machine. MOTM.

Still would have all those players in our team rather than downing. They will atleast try to take on their man.

Absolutely, in fact I think some of these players are underrated (Lennon in particular). I was just pointing out the inconsistency of thought regarding those players... Sterling runs at dead ends all the time and his final ball is very inconsistent

Great first half average second half. Good defending 3 points.

Not too bothered by the Suarez yellow if I'm honest at least it gets rid of the 4 yellow cards cloud over his head plus I'm going to the Fulham game in three weeks so I'm fairly certain I will get to see Suarez now. :P

Good first half, could have walked away with the game but not so good in the second half

Well out third win of the season.... frightening

What's the point? They win (4th win of the season) and still this pointless negative comments like this. Why didn't you save it for the start of the match instead of telling us history we all ready knew well before the match at the end of the match?

Should have really put that to bed and we'll find out if we miss Suarez next week but I just wish the guy would stop doing it all by himself. What pleased me though is how our possession football ground down Southampton to wrecks towards the end of the match. You could see it by the mistakes they were making as the commentator said. 1-0 though. Good solid result and I'm content!

functional win, but should have been far easier. again created a host of chances and should have been 3-0.

      a lot of positives though.

lucas back and had a good game, protects the defense far better than allen.
gerrard had an excellent first half...faded a bit in second half but good overall.
enrique - my motm. another excellent performance.
solid, solid defending throughout by the back four.
      midfield completely dominated.
suarez - should have scored but good overall performance.
we are winning against smaller teams which would have have been trickier last year.

      negatives (there were a few).

lack of goals - the owners need to wise up and get the cheque book out in jan. it's just so painfully clear where we need strengthening.
too many basic mistakes and misplaced passed - shelvey, sterling and allen were at fault a few times. a better team would have punished us.
suarez' silly yellow card - completely unnecessary. i will say however that he;s completely cut out the silly diving, which has massively improved his game.

satisfied with the win, could have been far easier on my heart rate though.

Should have had that game done & dusted by half-time.  Lucas may not be world class, but he frees up space and allows our full backs to be a constant threat as well as being a tenacious f**ker when we aren't in possession.  Surprised he stayed on the pitch so long, also surprised Sterling stayed on, but for different reasons.

Great first half, extremely wasteful second half. We weren't as poor as some are going to make out. If we had put our chances away, this could have been 3-0. Should be interesting to see what BR does next week w/o Luis. Yesil? Morgan? Or Jonjo?

Arsenal now keeping us company bang smack in the middle of the table :P

Probably competing for the richest mid table club.
In any case, a WIN. 3 POINTS. 4 points behind "high flying" neverton.

Bad news: Suarez will not play next week.
Good news : Rodgers may take him to Italy. A must win game on Thrusday.

Glad of the three point and the first half total domination and second half determination and positive play.
Never seemed to be any doubt by the players attitude, and all giving 100%. Thats a refreshing change. Never expected Lucas to stay on for so long, pleased for him, and Gerrard looked to have been lifted somewhat by his presence. Much improved game from him today. All in all just glad of the win and hope a few other results went in our favour as well.

From our last 10 games that is 17 points out of a possible 30. It's not great but where we were earlier this year it's definitely an improvement and with a thinner squad as well. The goal after this is to improve that average and really get into that mix. This month will be crucial for that!

Just happy with 3 points, unconvincing or otherwise.

First back to back home wins in the league for ages.

4 points behind the bitters (everyone said they were going to be in the champions league - what happened?!). Two points behind the struggling Arsenal. It's very tight with 7 points separating us and 4th place but it's good to be in the mix after the horror start to the season.

Brendan's building a platform for us here. It may not feel like it but it's definitely progress after the collapse we've witnessed throughout 2012.

So, we thinking Jonjo will play false No. 9 vs West Ham? He did vs Young Boys.

Not sure Brendan thinks Yesil and Morgan have shown very much to be starting in the Prem.

Hilarious with all our grumbles that we're only 2 points behind Arsenal, they are F***ing sh*te. Like I said if we can't finish ahead of them this season we are in real trouble. Worst Arsenal team I've seen in a very long time. 4 points off Europa places (Everton) and 7 points off 4th, season well and truly in the balance at the moment.

At least there's some room for positivity to creep back in!

      3 points!!!

Jonjo Shelvey for me. That said for all his brilliance I really wish Suarez would release the ball so much earlier that he usually does. Happened far too often today and cost us a couple of goals or at least a couple of really great scoring opportunities.
