Well, even I will admit that while I rate Benteke, I don't know that I rate him at 32.5 (unless we have no better options). I just think for the money Hernandez might be able to do a good job for us.

I will say I was impressed with ings today, but I'd have to see how he does either playing on his own or with a more "mobile" partner up top.

For instance, Hernandez and Ings together could cause some trouble for opposing defenses I think with their technical ability, speed and work rate.

I'm not opposed to signing Benteke outright but I definitely think Hernandez could do well here.

And spending £55 million on Hernandez and Reus makes a lot more sense to me than £32.5 million on Benteke.

We've already said we don't value him at 32m, I don't see us buying him unless the asking price comes down to closer to 25m and I'd have him over Hernandez for that price. Hernandez reminds me of Dzeko, they both perform better when they come off the bench. We need somebody to start most games.

£49m would get you damn close to getting Illarra and Lacazette.

There was something from TAW boys yesterday that we have £50m left over from last summer that needs to be spent before the tax man gets hold of it too, so we could be looking at another £100m in total

I rated Benteke as less of a fit than Hernandez in a Liverpool shirt, But for the sake of argument let's say that they are the same, would it not be wiser to spend £9m on one player and have £40m to spend else where?.... Hope Benteke either stays at villa or goes else where

I doubt it's right anyway mate, our end of year accounts is 31st May so it needed spending in January and considering how desperate we were then the only targets we attempted were getting Origi and Ings early.

Bentecke is worth it for that reason alone.

City valued Sterling at 100m yet only paid 49 It's a very valid point that you make though obviously, I just hope we stick to our guns and if Villa don't accept our offer then we move onto other targets. The last thing I want to see happen is another Carroll situation. I mean that more for the negotiating rather than the player. We had an offer of approx. 20m rejected and then just kept going and going until 35m was agreed. If we value him at 29 and they want 32 then obviously it's not bad but if we valued him at the mid 20 range and we keep going until we pay his release clause then somethings going wrong.
