Maybe the man to be our defensive coach is under our noses?

Still the best defender at the club.

Stick some bionic legs on him so he can play every week.

When he's out we miss his organization and leadership BADLY.

 Again today showed he's the best defender the club has and has had for the last 5 years.

Agree with the above. Jamie was excellent today. He really threw his body around and made some good tackles in the game. Only thing I can really criticize him for was being too slow to catch up with Milner, but that's nit-picky stuff.

I too would play him whenever he's fit now.

He gets the start over skrtel for me , he played a good game today .

Jamie for his undoubted commitment, certainly shows the youngsters up, everytime, certainly deserves to start ahead of Skrtel, who may well be on borrowed time at the club.

We need a center back in the summer who can organize the defence the way Carra can. Terrific today!

He is an absolute warrior who will fight to the death for Liverpool and today was no different. How on earth do you replace him?

Boss performance against Citeh. I thought he was past it but he is showing that he is far from that yet.

Lost his spot on merit, regained it on merit.  His communication & leadership aren't matched by anyone else in the squad.

Fantastic turn around from Carra. Always has been a big game player for us, but I never expected to see him as our first choice CB again.

I agree mate, had all but written him off, placing behind Coates even. Yet again class shines through though and damn nearly got us a goal, one of the first times I've ever heard Carra referred to as "fox in the box" had me chuckling that one. Really good to see him back in the side on merit and long may it continue. Also bet he's absolutely loving being back in the side, well in Jamie lad!

Jamie Carragher is going through a moment of his career similar to Sami Hyypia at some point.

I remember Hyypia being heavily criticized (and rightly so) when he was playing too much at an advanced age. He was past his best and just couldn't cope with it. It was, if I'm not mistaken, in a time where we were under all sorts of trouble in our UCL group - just before we went on to beat Marseille, Porto and Besiktas in great fashion.

Back then, we were all certain that Sami Hyypia was done. "He's over", and all that.

But it was far from truth - he was just playing too much for his age. Once he became an experienced squad player, coming into the team when necessary, we started seeing old Sami's excellence again. That includes a MOTM type of performance at Old Trafford, where he needed to get ready to play at short notice because some other defender injured himself (can't remember who).

I don't think we can count on Carragher to be a every game starter as he used to, when he was in his peak. But he's proven me and a lot of people wrong in those recent matches. He's still very much a valuable part of the team.

Agree with you there pal. Carra shouldn't be playing week in week out but I think he still has it in him to play a lot of games throughout a season, especially in the big games because 35 or not, he will be fighting tooth and nail for the win and his experience is second to none. He has the leadership that we lack at the back without him.

Fantastic news, definitely the right move for both parties. The knowledge this lad has, it would be criminal to let it pass to anywhere else, will make an outstanding coach with the help of a translator.
