I genuinely thought Jay had left for Blackburn

Gotta say that's a very poor team though. Might give us some insight as to whether Agger is in the running for the vice-captaincy role if he's given the armband for this match. Alternatively it could go Henderson as he's captain the England U-21s or Toure just for sheer experience.

Or Borini, just to see federer explode.

Hottest day of he year, not that good a preparation. I expect a hell of a lot of substitutions.

Game of two halves? More like a game of Two teams for us anyway.

Meh, first friendly of preseason. It's all about fitness and getting through the matches without injury.

Looking forward to the new boys, of course.

Finally footy back, come on boys let's have a good showing and some confidence boosting displays from the new lads would be the order of the day for me.

He's lost it a couple of times but already Ibe is showing plenty, Preston know what to expect with him too, 2 or 3 going over when he gets the ball. When that composure comes and he realises that 3 on him means space elsewhere he's going to be some asset.

Very confident on the ball isn't he. Always looking for it, although like you say he hasn't made the most of his time on the ball so far.

      Spearing at RB.

Nice strike Agger, its been a while since we have seen him score a belter.

      Ibe is very confident.

Henderson trying a 'Coutinho' outside of the foot pass.

      Penalty!

Ibe loses the ball on the left side of their box, Coutinho pressures the Preston defenders, wins it and is pulled down.

Calm as you like, Coutinho slots it into the bottom right, keeper doesn't move. Given him the eyes there.

When seeing the starting line up and who scored the penalty it's always a great reminder how pivotal a player Coutinho could be for us this season.
