Interesting Luke - have to say my knowledge barely scrapes by vague awareness of this guy I'm ashamed to say.

Well I follow Real / Barca mostly in spain and when I watched the clip again remembered his performances against them because they only show some short highlights of what he did in each match and he was probably MotM in one of the games.

But I am in no way saying I have extensive knowledge .

My eldest lad knows everybody so I hear the odd reference through him to left backs in Serie A, La Liga etc but don't watch nearly as much non LFC football as I used to - and you're right it is the harsh realities of life!

By all accounts Cissokho isn't much of an upgrade on Jose but this guy possible is.

If that's the case there should only be one option in Brendan's mind.

I can't say I know much of him but I do think it will all come down to personal terms and signing fee if it's true that is .

A confident peno taker he is .

Not really seen him play that much, just the odd game against the big teams in La Liga. Remember him scoring a pen against Barca either last season or the season before.

Seems quite highly rated in general though, apparently Madrid and Barca have looked at him in the last couple of years.

Reds eye move for £5m Brazilian Siqueira

Reds boss Rodgers hoping  to add to squad with new season just days away



Liverpool FC are hopeful of completing the signing of Granada left-back Guilherme Siqueira as Brendan Rodgers looks to add to his squad before the new Premier League season.

Rodgers has been  eager to add to his  full-back options this  summer, with Jose Enrique the only recognised senior left  back at the club  currently.

Moves for Aly  Cissokho of Valencia,  and Lorenzo Melgarejo  of Benfica have been  considered, but it is  Siqueira who has now  emerged as the prime  target, and Liverpool are confident of  concluding a deal to  sign the 27-year-old  Brazilian on a  permanent basis  before the transfer window closes in three  weeks’ time.

Siqueira has  impressed during three  seasons at Granada, helping the  Andalusians to  promotion to La Liga  in 2011.

He signed a four-year  contract soon after,  but it is believed  Granada will be willing  to let him leave for  around £6m, though no  fee has been agreed at  this stage.

So the £6m from Downing who's at an advanced stage with West Ham will negate the £6m for Siquiera who's at an advanced stage with us and save further money on the wage bill and keep our net spend at around £0.
