Liverpool are to make a £12million bid for Mohamed Salah after manager Brendan Rodgers made a personal check on the Basle winger.
The Anfield club have been trailing the Egyptian for over six months and Rodgers flew to Germany on Wednesday to watch the the 21-year-old in action for himself in the Champions League against Schalke.
Salah had a reasonable game but his side were reduced to ten men just half an hour into the game and lost 2-0 and so went out of the competition.
Basle are reportedly now ready to sell their prized asset and want around £15m for a player who has been dubbed 'the Egyptian Messi' following his 17 goals in 26 internationals.
Tottenham have also monitored Salah's progress, notably watching him score against Chelsea in the Champions League home and away.
He also scored against Chelsea in the Europa League semi-finals last season, and against Spurs in the last eight and other European sides are also keen with Galatasaray and Monaco among them.
However, Liverpool is an appealing option for Salah and reports indicate that Rodgers is likely to get his man.
