Agree Debs, delighted we won but the impact isn't the same because as you say, they were so s**t, and to be fair we weren't at our best, not that we needed to be.
We've got nothing there for the past 5 years, and not much more in the years before then, so we've every right to celebrate this result, regardless of the challenge we faced.
As difficult as the past few years have been, we always gave more than 100% at home to the mancs, regardless whether we had anything else to play for or not. So those of us who urged caution before the game feared that they would throw the sink at us. Instead they barely opened the door, then packed up and went home after the third penalty.
On the penalties, getting a penalty down that end in the first half is rare, getting three in one game is unheard of. Twenty years ago, to the month in 1994, we needed a penalty down the same end and got it, only for the ref to change his mind after being summoned by his lino. In 2004, Danny scored from the spot in the last 3pm Saturday ko. We've only won once since then before today, so all wins there are welcome.
