I think it will be a while till he gets to Xabi status. Even I looked straight at him, then turned my attention to her pins. 

THere are couple of player we badly need to keep going forward and can is one of them. Even if we get a bid of 40m. i wouldnt sell him becuase this guy is so young and he will only get better.

I see can as a vital part of our team for coming years, alongside cou and ibe.

Watching him last night andover the course of the season, it's clear to me that he is not yet fully matured as far as fitness goes.
That'll come of course, but part of the problem right now is that he's a big lad and his fitness isn't quite up to the job yet of carrying that 13 stone frame around.
We saw last season how he faded a bit towards the end of games, and came down with cramp a few times.

It's not a problem for me or a criticism, just an observation.

hmm. I always thought he was poor at the end of the season because he was playing as RB. I dont think he is in bad shape, i have been watching u21 and he is doing his job in the middle of the park.

As much as I think he is going to be a midfielder I wouldn't be annoyed to see him at RCB again next season if the need arises.

Ive read that Clyne is better suited to fullback though and not so much wing back.

From what I've seen I think he could play wing back no problem FL.

Like I said I don't expect a back three as a regular formation but it is an option.

He's like a huge 2-Y-0 in horse racing parlance, needs to mature into his frame.

He mostly played on the right of 3 centre backs, and only moved to RB if we changed to a flat 4 during matches.
He also got shifted to CM a few times during matches, and I don't think those changes particularly helped him.
I saw him going down with cramp a few times, fairly early in matches, and he made mistakes through tiredness rather than a lack of ability.

It's not a problem, and it'll sort itself out pretty quickly with training alone.

I hadn't thought of it in those terms Mick, but that is an excellent analogy.

you seen this lads guns he is NOT out of shape he was coming back from an ankle injury so took some time to get "match" fit but he's not phyically unfit and now he's playing in the middle for U21 he looks more comfortable but at least we know he can do a job in defence in an emergancy

Nobody said he was out of shape or unfit.
What I am saying is that his fitness has yet to catch up with his body.
It happens to a lot of young players who are physically precocious.
It happened to Gerrard with his "growing pains" as Houllier called it.

At 20/21, he's nearly 13 stone. His fitness hasn't matured at the same rate as his growth.

Stamina.
It's part of fitness.
When a player is young and very well developed physically, his stamina (part of fitness) takes time to catch up.

It's no big deal.
It's perfectly normal.
