World governing body Fifa have imposed a record nine-match ban on Uruguay striker Luis Suarez for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.

The independent disciplinary committee imposed the suspension after finding the 27-year-old guilty of misconduct.

Suarez has also been banned from all football for four months.

Uruguay will appeal but it would be unwise of Liverpool to do that as it would be spun by the gutter press that we don't take the incident serious. Besides, this works in our favour to some extent. It's highly unlikely anyone will attempt to buy him now but his ban doesn't extend that far in to the season, only October.

Confirmed: Suarez suspended for nine games & banned from "football activity" for four months.

So that's Southampton, City, Tottenham, Villa, West Ham, Everton, West Brom, QPR and Hull in the league.  He will also miss all of the CL, FA Cup, and League Cup games.  Probably a total of 15 matches that he will not be eligible for.  In 3-1/2 seasons he has managed to get himself banned for almost an entire campaigns worth of games (8 + 10 + 15 = 33 matches).  Lost for words....

I'm actually surprised Suarez's ban isn't MORE than 9 international matches and 4 months to be honest. It was his THIRD biting incident in like a 5-year span. Clearly, he hasn't learned biting is completely wrong. Biting is abhorrently disgusting and has the potential to spread diseases.

Maybe the club will appeal. Maybe. Or maybe the uppers just say enough is enough and sell (albeit at a lower price now). I don't know. We're a bit fu**ed right now though.

Did you want the same with Liverpool when Kenny & the team were all 'jumping' over Suarez in white tee shirts defending Luis?, bet you were made up when Kenny got the sack over Suarez defence.

No after the first incident I was willing to give him another chance and defended him, after the bite I thought he's an idiot but our idiot but now I just think he's an idiot with serious mental health issues. BTW if you actually bother to read what I wrote then you'd see I was talking about the Uruguayans who lept to his defence, not all Uruguayans so not a generalisation at all!

Nine International games and four months in total so he misses two and a half months in the league.

So by my reckoning that's 7 Liverpool games he will miss, with our first champions league game being one of them.
