"This fact tell us there is 95 per cent probability that Liverpool won’t finish in the top four this season.
Or put another way, let’s be clear, the chances of ANY team finishing in the top four if they’re outside of the top six after New Year’s Day are 20-1."

A win against Leicester would have put us just 3 points behind the scum who apparently had a brilliant upturn under an astute manager and after our worst ever start thus far.

Nevertheless, 5 points now and Saints are increasingly looking like a Top-4 contender, with arse, spuds in the mix.. 5 teams and 2 spots..

Yet they still only have as many points as Moyseh after the same number of games (and fewer goals scored)...

Ha hes sh*te. Moyes had the same points tally, at this stage last season, as the tw*t this season.

REPEAT OF MY POST IN BRENDAN THREAD - ITS MORE SUITABLE HERE:

Its always been doable... in spite of our bad form!

The league is shocking this season... we have been poor 80% of the time and we are only 7 point from 3rd... Arsenal and Utd are also poor this year... its all to play for!!

It's actually incredible we are still in with a good shot at top 4 considering how awful we have been for much of the season. Most other seasons we would be too far off the the pack to catch up but everyone bar the current top 3 are so bad this season we still have a decent chance.

Southampton swap out a loss with a win.
Arsenal swap out a win with a win.
United swap out a win with a loss.

This will be very close, behind Chelsea and City.

I'd say so. Since we lost to scum back in mid-December, it's been five wins and two draws in all competitions. Ok, beating people like Bournemouth and Wimbledon is hardly glory days, but we did it not playing well. People have knocked the win against Sunderland a bit, but considering we had Studge, Sterling and Lallana missing, 3 out of 4 of our most creative players (Couts being the other one) and probably our only goal threats, it was a good win.

Scum don't deserve to be in top four, not sure how they've managed it, and Southampton won't last the course. Add to that the return of Studge, Sterling and Lallana, plus the fact that we have had storming second halves to seasons for a while now, I'm optimistic.

Everton's situation puts into stark perspective the claims of many that we had "got the wrong guy" when we got Brendan. Martinez is now having to deal with teams pressing higher etc, and has been much less adept than our manager at changing to accommodate the opposition.

On the top four, of course we can get there. If you take the view (as I certainly do) that Southampton WON'T get there, it really is absolutely bang open for grabs. The defeat yesterday has pulled the Mancs back into the scrap, while Arsenal have some extremely tough games coming up. I remain convinced that the men from the Emirates are our barometer, finish above them and we're in.

I simply cannot believe that we won't improve significantly on our first half of the seasons performances. When you consider that had we held on to a two goal lead at Home to Leicester and a one goal lead at Crystal Palace we'd be as good as in the top four anyway, it's incredible really. Not only is it ridiculously tight at the top either, the bottom ten could easily go down. Given that, there are going to be shock results all season, those that can keep their heads and their focus will prosper. Hopefully we can, that means players and supporters.

Actually think we can get top 3. I don't see Soton being able to keep their position once crunch time arrives. They'll wilt. There's a reason the same 5 or 6 teams are the ones battling it out for 4th every year....they've "been there, done that" and understand what it takes to mount a challenge. They have dealt with the pressures and know how to finish.

Be interesting but I could see is snagging 3rd. I think that should be our goal in lieu of missing out on the title.

without doubt 3rd is a viable target...

So'ton havent the squad to mount the top 4 challenge... so its us, Utd, Goners and Spuds for 3rd and 4th... Sturridge is the key

We have a much chance as any of the others but how good would it be for both the scum and the arse to miss out with us and Southhampton taking the final two spots  :D

Well, technically that would mean no loss in those 6 games. Possible? Yes. Realistic? With cup games in the mix as well, that would be some run.

We are due a good run of form and you can see the confidence returning to the team game by game now, add in a fit again Sturridge for the rest of the season plus Origi or a new striker then we have a every chance of getting top 4.

Why on earth do people keep thinking Origi is the answer to our problems? He's 19 and has only scored three goals so far this season in what is widely acknowledged as an inferior league. It'll be years before he recognises his potential.
