Roy of the Rovers couldn't affect our fate more than he has.
Cannot believe he sits alongside Ian Rush at the game mentally sniping at Sterling, Henderson and reassures himself that Sturridge is well and truly shot down.

After the tireless (and skillful) displays from Jordan and Adam on Saturday, I'd like to see us play the diamond agin Basel with Raheem partnering Mario up front.

Not sure why but I fancy us to win tonight, that's no disrespect to Basel but I just feel that it's our turn to click into place and the European style of play might just suit us at the moment.

Although Basel have had some good results recently we have to bear in mind they have sold most of their best players. As long as we respect the opposition we can get a result FFS Walter Samuel still plays for them he must be older than my old man!

Aye they were both very impressive against the Bitters mate. Don't think Jordan got near the credit he deserved for his tremendous display.

If our defence can somehow manage a clean sheet then I'd take that alone from tonight.

Anyone else thinking this could be the perfect fixture for us I fancy a decent performance and a decent win. 3-1

Glad to get this game out of the way now. Very difficult game expected, as it usually is away to Swiss teams, and we're not firing on all cylinders as it is.

A draw will do fine, particularly a score draw as away goals will count on the head to head, so if the group is still close when we face them at home, it could be an extra  advantage if us and them finish level on points and the head to head decides who goes through.

If we win this it'll be a massive step towards the knockout stages. All the pressure is on Basel. I expect us to go there and win.

I know they aren't a bad little team but come on, any decent prem team should beat a swiss side.

Looking forward to this, win lose or draw.

But I do fancy us to do well. A draw at the worst.

Same team as Saturday is a bonus, too many changes already this season.

The 3 points in 1st game was a big result, eases the pressure slightly. Not saying we should not go for the win, but the players would be feeling under a lot more focus tonight if we hadn't got the result against Ludogrets (a Man Shitty scenario, looking dim for them now)

Hope we put in a decent defensive show tonight. We don't need to chase the game from the off, just keep it tight, don't do anything stupid early on, and please God be a bit more organized/commanding defending (and attacking) set pieces. Haven't read all the threads, but someone in work here said Sakho threw a wobbly at the weekend, ffs, is not ideal prep.

Still, feeling positive-ish. And regardless, looking forward to our 2nd outing in the CL this season

Would take a draw, this will not be easy. They play good football and are hard to beat.
It would be refreshing for a decent, solid performance and even a 0-0 would cheer me up a bit.

I want us to win but the prediction is 60% we loose and 40% a draw.
The sure thing is that we will concede at least a goal.

Come on guys,  every game is huge, especially ones like this that we have had to wait for since 2009. We can beat Basel, and I'm more confident about ourselves away from home.

We need to go out there and prove a point. A win tonight will secure us six points and a step closer to round of 16

City have only 1 point from 2 games. We can show them the pedigree needed to do well in such a competition.

Definitely feeling less confident as we approach kick off, Basel have a great record at home and also against English teams (home and away wins over Chelsea last season).

Would certainly take a point here.
