I'd still rinse them for £50m up front, they need to fill their home grown quota, they can do it by filling their squad with sh*te that won't really have an impact if they lose players to injury or pay the premium.

Good riddance. Said it months ago, say it again. A long way from the finished article and has now shown how shitty his attitude can be. I doubt he will ever be world class.

Yeah best just to get the kid gone and use the funds to strengthen other positions. Really disappointing because IMO we're losing a player with enourmous potential and are now going to have to watch it fulfilled at a rival club. Fingers crossed they spend the money on the right player.

Maybe the mancs will pull their finger out and pinch Benteke from under our noses!

Glad to see the back of him now despite his obvious raw talent. The thing is though he is still extremely raw, with his finishing being an obvious weakness in his game. Add to that the people advising him, as usual, are out for the money - even if poor little Raheem protests he isn't - and you're left with the fact that 45m+ is money worth taking. Kid got special treatment at the club really and that can't have gone down well with a few in the dressing room.

£49M.

Thought we'd settle for a bit less than that.

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Manchester City over the transfer of Raheem Sterling, according to Sky sources.

And we also understand that the fee for the England international is £49m, subject to certain add ons.
The forward must now agree personal terms and undergo a medical at the City of Manchester Stadium.

£49m: Liverpool FC agree Sterling transfer to Manchester City

Youngster will leave Anfield subject to medical and personal terms

Liverpool FC have agreed the sale of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City in a deal worth £49m.

The 20-year-old has been given permission to speak to the Etihad club and will complete the transfer subject to a medical and agreeing personal terms.

No hitches are anticipated and Sterling is likely to be confirmed as a City player in the next 24 hours.

It brings to an end a protracted and acrimonious saga which dates back many months when Sterling rejected a new £100,000-a-week contract at Anfield.

In the past few weeks Manchester City have had bids totalling £35m and £40m rejected by Liverpool who have always insisted they valued the England youngster at £50m.
It is understood the deal that has been struck is worth a total of £49m, including performance-related add-ons.

The issue had become amplified this week as Liverpool prepared to depart for a two and a half week pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East. Sterling reported back for training on Monday but met Brendan Rodgers to inform him he did not want to travel with the squad.

He then missed two days of training citing illness but returned to Melwood on Friday and reported for duty on Sunday morning before the team’s flight to Bangkok.

Liverpool however chose not to take him with Manchester City having entered formal negotiations for the player.

Within hours those negotiations have concluded with Europe’s highest-rated young player leaving Anfield and making the short trip down the M62 top the Etihad.

Given there was nobody else in for him, we've done very well to get 49 million even with the "add ons". Essentially they're paying the full asking price, the 2% reduction on the initial demand is simply to allow them to save a little face, make it look like there was a point to their "hard negotiating" and Sterlings silliness.

Take the money and spend it, starting with Benteke.

Finally the brat is gone and someone else's problem now. Sterling by name, most definitely Sterling by nature.

The fact that even berahino, a player that went through some very immature moments last season himself also saw fit to break ties with ward tells you everything you need to know about the duplicitous business practice of ward and Sterling
