Lovren shouldn't be made the scapegoat, there were far far worse players out there tonight than Dejan.

Raheem Sterling in particular.

Take away the penalty and Lovren was still one of the poorest players on the pitch tonight. Raheem's poor effort doesn't change that.

Lovren stood up and tried to take responsibility in front of a very hostile home crowd. He done that because five others didn't want it and preferred to let him, a CB, go up instead.

Slag it off technically,  thats fine, but if there was somebody more able wanting it the manager would have had them up. They're the ones who should take the stick.

Not making any good decisions ? Take Manquillo for Ibe for an example.

Completely disagree. Continuo has looked exhausted lately and clearly needed a rest, he would have burnt out tonight. Hendon has been running ragged every game too. That's why you rotate a squad and you can't possibly play your best 11 every game when we've already played 43 games.

why not rest cou against city? we could have won EL. there is no chance for us winning the league. id rather win a trophy then prioritise fourth spot.

Very disappointing to go out on the night taking game on its merits.
Based on the first half performance, thought we had it.
Whatever was in the tea at half time, we came out and were sh*te from then on. Terrible. Couldn't keep the ball.

Very odd BR not making a change BEFORE Besiktas scored, thought he was VERY late bringing off one of the anonymous front two. Couldn't understand it.

Moreno gets a 7 because of his first half...Allen gets a 6 because he had in your mind a poor second half?

Allen had the best half of any of the players in the game the first half and in the second he was solid. Moreno disappeared after half time and did nothing but he gets a 7?
Balotelli was as bad as Sturridge and Sterling? 

What game were you watching?

The thing with rodgers though is that you can guarantee we will have a right good go at city.

So why not do it against these... who lets be fair are nowhere near city's level.

Limping out without trying to win is just poor.

I wouldn't be half as pissed off if we went at them the whole 90 mins and got beat 5 nil.

No passion, no desire, no threat and no attacking.

As you are not immune to complaining yourself PD. If you read my post I said I would not comment on the match as I had not seen it. You should put your spade away and stop your gutter sniping and sh*t stirring.

That's great that he was brave....but you are a professional....the giant open goal mouth is 12 yards away. My 12 year old would have done better than that, he'd have at least put it on the goal. And he'd have been jumping up and down to take the pen. So yes, shame on the others if they turned down the opportunity, but unfortunately being brave doesn't help us in Lovren's case.

Have to say as soon as he stepped up to take it, I knew he had missed.

Guess BR agreed!  he took Balo off before the other two. I give Mario more slack than most, but after winning a couple of frees he was back to him walking about the place worst. Allen played some really bad square balls in 2nd half, looked wrecked, was decent in first half.

I just assumed Balo came off because of the Yellow...BR didn't want to risk him getting another as the game was starting to get very chippy.

I truly thought Allen was one of our best players all night. Oh well.

Was just saying that Cou was the only one rested, and they have all this data nowadays that they use to prevent injury.

We have a big enough squad that we should be able to rest one player and still turn up

120+90....  210 minutes without a goal from open play ... frankly, we in no way deserved to go through... sad

Lovern will take the brunt of the blame, but the whole team was sub-par.  Including Lovern. 

I just don't see a way Lovern will ever have any confidence after that....it was so fragile before the miss. Looks like a 20m bench warmer now

Again, its all just opinions, but Iimo the side put out should've been able to do the job. Certainly based on the 1st half, shouldve done.
BR can't legislate for some of the poor performances in the 2nd half.
I'm good with BR tonight, apart from the late first sub, just a small gripe.
For me, the league is the bread and butter, would be great to win a cup, and we should've done better on the night, but we need to have something in the tank for Sunday.

Brendan doesn't know how to manage 3 games in a week. I hope this won't be another Real Madrid type F**k up. I hope Coutinho and Hendo will deliver and we get the win against City.
