Always gives me a chuckle this thread when the usual suspects start posting in it, those people who love throwing out accusations of hypocrisy and double standards, yet here they are slating Bobby for reasons they'll happily excuse others. With Bobby it's lack of goals, yet with Sturridge it's lack of service. Similarly, they'll tell you all day and night just how good Milner's penalties are, yet with Bobby the silence is deafening. You might think that would be enough but no, they'll solely blame Bobby for the Watford goal, yet Mignolet (who was stood almost as close) evades criticism. As I said, all very amusing but ultimately predictable.
Truth is that Bobby, as always, has been one of our better players this year and will continue to be throughout the season, he's absolutely vital to the way we play. His creativity is so good that we've even see calls that he could take over from Coutinho, do you see that with any of our other players? No you don't because that level of versatility is so rare in players that it's obvious if we stuck Mane/Salah/Sturridge in there that their game would deteriorate but with Bobby it's easy to envisage him doing an excellent job. His critics might also want to read Danzel's recent post Moreno's thread, note how often Bobby's name pops up in our clearances/blocks/interceptions, yet amusingly people have used this in the past as a stick to beat him rather than dish out the credit he clearly deserves for this hard work.
So let's get to the whole point of their criticism and that's his goal scoring record. In the league his record is:
1 goal every 237 minutes, or 1 goal every 2.6 games
Is that so bad when he didn't take penalties for 2 years, he played wide left for many games and was almost the most creative player from open play in the entire league? Add that to his defensive game, the way he creates space for others and it truly astonishes me how people still continue to slate him. The funny thing is that I believe his goal scoring record will improve, I think he will get that ratio down to 1:2 and at that point it's going to be hilarious watching these people twist and squirm and look for reasons left to sling mud at him.
Between Mane, Firmino and Salah I wouldn't swap our front 3 for anyone in the premier league, devastating attack and if we get Coutinho back to top form, that front 4 will deliver an enormous amount of goals.
Keep it up Bobby, pure class.
