Actually still think we're a better team with Origi down the middle and would prefer that over Sturridge leading the line because I did think we were better in the first half even though we scored three in the second. It's a luxury to bring Sturridge on in games when we've already won and Daniel took full advantage of that comfortable situation.

edit: And by the way - Sturridge wasn't playing when I commented on him.

Yep, I'd still prefer Origi down the middle - he has that ability to slice deep lying defenders.

Sturridge really struggles to do this of late, and Firmino - well, he's utterly hopeless as a false 9 against teams that play the Burnley tactic.

With Mane out wide stretching the compact defences - which the likes of Lallana, Firmino and Coutinho were abject at on Saturday - I'd like to think there's the solutions out there. Oh yes, and decent and direct distribution from the deep lying holding midfielder would help, which I'd like to think Can and Grujic can do and which Henderson CANNOT do.

Ok, calm down lads it was harsh to put him on the negatives, hands up :lmao:

It was, as explained, just to my mind he's yet to convince me he's the right player for the role and this game did nothing to convince me, so to me that was a negative. Did he do anything 'wrong' in the game though, no, so negative was unfair on the lad, accepted.

       :D

I admit I like the player, think he could do well for us. That said I havent been overwhelmed so far, sometimes loses the ball a bit too easily but it's only been 3 games and he's getting used to the system and his teammates.

Yep, don't really feel the need to pick out the negatives after such a convincing and easy win. Hardly gave them a chance and created a lot. Just a pity we can't play them every week :)

Good game good result.  Biggest takeaway -- Mane is our most important player in this system.  If only we could find another like him for the left side....

Moreno? Markovic? Ojo?... These are options that could be explored in the last 10mins of a game... Otherwise, current system is quite ok

Looks like our Danny fits into the team with consummate ease. Not that it was ever in doubt to be honest; being as he's the best striker we have by some distance.

We really need to play him as a striker and not a wide forward.
      Quality player.
Also looks like Mane will be one of our key players this season.
Pacy and direct, something few others give the team.

I'm sure Klopp will rest easy tonight after your approval.

Routine win. Their keeper did a Mignolet in the first half leading to one of our goals. Sturridge came on in the second and scored a couple. Mane murdered them for 90 minutes.

Well, to put it simply, we scored early and they barely had a chance till 90th minute, so it was never really a contest. It was an absolute stroll and were it not for Can and Origi limping off it would have been perfect.

Mane MOTM for me, was so dangerous and involved in the majority of our goals.

Let's just reflect and revel in the warm glory that is Pulis's team being knocked out by Northampton Town...on penalties.

Charlatan, hack manager gets knocked out by Northampton in the league cup...now where have we heard that one before?

Tonight Danial Sturrigde show that maybe he just might still have a thing or two to offer on a regular basis for LFC... And I don not mean his goals, we all know what he is capable of, no I mean his willingness to run, chase and harass defenders... He show great moment tonight and a hunger and desire  to perform...Now this was Barton Albion... If he can show those same traits against Tottenham....

Only 58% possession, only 14 shots ... bit of a come down from Burnley... I suppose the five goals we scored do help a bit though. :)

Good win, on to the next round. All the European big hitters in the bag now. Most of which will be focussing on that over this so a great chance for some silverware if we ourselves continue to take it seriously.

Never in doubt, that result. Good come back from the weekend, JK, good pick.

Some very professional and high quality performances, and I don't think anyone deserves pulling up as 'not good enough' tonight, no matter what the opposition.  Mane, Milner and Matip - magnificent.
