Utterly dominant for 75 minutes, played superbly and should have been so many goals in front it's untrue. Squeaky bum finish due to our usual Achilles heel at set pieces but we got the win, I'm just gutted we 're not sitting top tonight coz it would have been great to get the 'we are top of the league' thread up and running again! Motm was Coutinho with Mane a close second for me. Only real concern for me beyond our set piece problems is the goal keeper who was once again nervy & indecisive when the ball was in the air.

That first 80 minute was some of the best football I've seen, better than when we finished 2nd under Rodgers.

It was relentless and it was brutal. I'd hate to play against us right now because we never let up or give you a second to breathe. That is death by football.

Just hoping we can keep this tempo up all season because if we do it's going to be quite a ride.

Don't like to moan after a win, so I'm not going to! Great 3 points Reds.

Win, lose or draw we should be willing to praise and criticise. Having said that, the sh*t you get when you point out positives in a defeat. ;D

We should have killed the game off and been top, but we didn't and we won so we can't be too upset. Let's hope tomorrow's result goes our way.

Ok then, I think our defensive frailty at the back is a fecking mystery, The goals we concede are ridiculously amateurish, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it!
Thankfully we are fecking awesome up front, so we are getting away with it.

He doesn't mean in a coaching or playing role.

More like he's welcome back in a 'going round to your nan's for Sunday tea' way than anything else. Kind of sad that after a 2-1 victory and an excellent performance some in the media still feel compelled to live up to the cult of Gerrard

      Yeah its really pathetic.

Some fans need to grow up and mature. If it ain't broke, don't fix it - we don't need inexperienced coaching compromising this team.

Oh I don't think he is. And it's not a cult at all. He's a club legend. If there is a place for him that Klopp thinks he can help with on the coaching side of things whether it be with the reserves or the academy, then great. I really don't believe he will think he can play here or that Klopp believes he can either.

Having people like Dalglish, Rush, Fowler, Gerrard, etc around the club cannot be anything but good as long as it's the right position and not one given to just shoe-horn an ex player in because of the name.

I probably should have started a separate thread to be honest as this will gather pace now with Klopp’s comments and Gerrard saying goodbye to LA Galaxy via Instagram.

Or how about we don't get carried away like we did in 2013/2014 and just take it game by game?

Like I said, some folk need to grow up and focus on the present rather than the past.

I swear some would quite happily see us fill the coaching department with ex-reds at the detriment of on field progress.

We are going to win the league

      By March.

By the end of the transfer window my expectation was at 'just not quite consistent enough to maintain a title challenge.' Results like this and equally the performance level for 90% of the match has me believing right now.

I see nobody that shows our quality in a game, nobody who is conceding so few chances per game and nobody with a closer, more singularly focused squad and clear direction in the entire league.

I said back a fews weeks ago that the 11/1 on offer was a tasty price and if anyone was to back us it was then. We're now in to 7/2 across the boards and honestly I think that's still quite generous. If I was making a book I'd currently make us favourites.

The key for us will be keeping everyone fit, I don't think we have the greatest depth to the squad in terms of title winners. Sure we have good players in reserve, better than we've had in an awful long time but are they good enough to slot in almost seamlessly, I don't think so. With a bit of luck though that 7/2 will be looking like a very big price indeed come christmas.

      Onwards and upwards Redmen!
