Cast your minds back to 13 December 2015 when we scored against West Brom in the 95th minute to secure a 2-2 draw. For those who can’t remember, it was a game Jürgen Klopp was roundly mocked for due to the post match celebrations. He led the team across the pitch as they linked arms and hailed the home support.
Well, who is laughing now?
I firmly believe that these small moments helped to build the unit we see in front of us today. Helped build this team which just achieved the impossible. A team that, despite being without two of their attacking talismans, just dismissed one of the best teams in world football. An absolute will to win, nothing else.
Trophy or not, this man has dragged this club up from its knees to compete at the highest level in club football. A second consecutive Champions League final and a third European final overall. Consolidating CL qualification in his first two full seasons and a title charge in his third. He may not be perfect but he’s about as close as it comes.
Oh and who scored the equaliser that night in 2015... Divock Origi.
