Liverpool 3-0 Southampton: In game and Post Match discussion
      Feb 28, 2024 07:00:30 pm

Anfield hosting the mighty Reds after the League Cup victory

Liverpool FC Starting XI: Kelleher, Gomez, Van Dijk, Gakpo, Elliott, Tsimikas, Clark, McConnell, Koumas, Quansah, Bradley.

Liverpool Subs: Adrian, Konate, Diaz, Mac Allister, Scanlon, Gordon, Nallo, Danns, Nyoni.

Lewis Koumas makes his senior debut for Liverpool in tonight's Emirates FA Cup fifth-round tie with Southampton.

The 18-year-old is one of six changes made by the Reds for the Anfield encounter following Sunday’s Carabao Cup final success over Chelsea.

Elsewhere, Bobby Clark and James McConnell are handed places in the XI following their impressive cameo performances at Wembley.

      Well!!!!
Glad Kelleher is in - the talk of Adrian was worrying me.
Good mix of experience and youth. The young lads are well capable.
No groaning or calling them crap etc tonight please. They're on a learning curve and no one is perfect. (Not even some of the posters on here :lmao:)

      2-0 to us
And Forest or ManURE in the next round - BRING IT ON!

Strong keeper, strong back 4.just what's needed to springboard the attack. Going to get the full SP on these younger players. Love to see Nyoni and Danns get on at some stage.

Virg playing again ... captain for ya. But ideally I'd have preferred he didn't. Don't even want to see konate come on ... with his muscle issues.

Hopefully score 1 or 2 early. Control it and make changes.

What a great opportunity for the kids!!  They must be feeling so confident after the recent League Cup win!!

I'm sure Southampton will be trying to get stuck into the young lads early.  If I was Jürgen, I would tell them to anticipate some rough play and sh*t-housery and use any opportunity to go down a d take a foul.  Use their tactic of getting physical against them.

What’s actually wrong with Nunez and Salah? Will be at least two weeks out for the pair of them and that’s if they’re back on Saturday.

Hope the kids do us proud again.

Hope the young mids are well coached in defensive duties as well as attacking.
Happens with youngsters trying so hard to impress with Adrenalin bursting through their head.
Expect Jürgen to keep a close eye on them, and the senior players !

Think Salah was a recurrence of his hamstring wasn't it.

According to ITV they've got him part of the front three.

Southampton have made 8 changes since their league game on the weekend. Looks like they might be sacrificing the competition for promotion?

Hopefully makes our job a tad easier.

Didn’t Klopp allude to it being fatigue? The way he explained it anyway didn’t sound like an injury as such but it’s sometimes hard to pick up with Klopp because he’s intentionally so vague.

I am really curious as to what is going on though, it really does seem completely out of the ordinary how many absentees we have. Robbo ill apparently.
