      The 'Rejected' Stadium plans
      Jan 31, 2008 01:16:17 am
We're all aware that HKS 71,000 seater Anfield was the chosen design (http://www.lfcreds.com/reds/index.php/topic,6141.0.html)

Here are some images of the 72,000 seater 'rejected' design from Manchester based AFL - the stadium would have cost around £290 million to build.

Not that we got a say in it - but do you think the cub made the right choice?

      This is the best design.

Let's hope DIC invest in that one...  ::)

Or will Hicks stay as stubborn as we all know he is?

I like the Kop and the filled in corners but maybe the new stadium allows for more expansion.  It's also a bit too much like Old Trafford for my liking.

But anyway, we will be in the second division when its opened, so it doesnt really matter.

It's basically the same as the very first new design we seen!

Looks nice like, but not a big enough design for us! The one we've took on was really unique and that just looks too generic! The Emirates suffers from that, just being a big bowl and too similar to most bowl like stadiums! At least ours is going to be instantly recognisable!

I can see what your saying there, the arches attached to the floor outside are very similar! ;) My first thoughts at looking at them!

Thats what i like about our latest design on the stadium, its instantly recognizable, the Kop from outside looks futuristic yet other parts blend in, in a bit of old stlye way which i like alot.

I honestly think that looks sensational - much better than the lop-sided version they seem to have gone with. I think that's a missed opportunity, but either way the new stadium should be a massive positive...

I like this design as there are no holes in the corners!

Spot on.  I couldn't quite put my finger on it!  But now I know why I am probably more for that design than the other!!

I think they should of gone with this stadium not with the other one. I mean just look at the kop. It looks amazing.

Tell me about it. Couldn't they afford this stadium, or did they just prefare the uglier yet larger plans?

In American everything has to be large :/

I like the proposed stadium, or ground as we oldies call them, but this one looks very good, I would like to see them both, model form of course, before I choose, but I think I am siding with this one.

This is such a nice stadium. I seriously don't know why they dropped these plans. Keeping things simple is always the best option!

Im not a fan of this to be honest, looks a bit too much like the Emirates but with two Wembley arches. We need something unique which I feel the other design is. Not that it matters im sure there will be another new design sometime next season.

I liked the original HKS design. Then they said they couldn't afford it, so they cheapened the same design which I'm not happy about!
The newer version is lacking in the quality of the original if you study the pics and as a result I'd like this one over the one now being considered by liverpool council!
It's a bit more traditional, but the reason I liked the HKS design in the beginning wasbecause it looked very expensive and full of quality that added to it's uniqueness.
WHEN DIC get in, I want them to either build the original HKS design with all the bells and whistles or a more advanced one than this with greater capacity especially at the KOP end!
They could afford it and if it's true that we have a 55-65,000 waiting list for season tickets then I'm sure we can fill the monster on a regular basis!
Is it me or does the HKS design not represent a vile time in the clubs history. A design conscieved by a company that has a Hicks on the board. The real reason he wanted it built. One of the main reasons G&H fellout in the first place!

We could be in for a long wait for the new stadium. Just thinking about the Wall St crash, and the state of the US financial markets, H & G probably down to their last 100 mill or so, getting tight over there, and even the ceo of Lehmans had to make do on a half a BILLION US salary over the last 5 years.

Good old Anfield, long live the KOP.
