David Bentley has been in the Newz Bar on numerous occassions this year sparking speculation that he will move to anfield in the summer however. The agents of Ricardo Quaresma also stayed in Liverpool during the january transfer window.

John arne Riise, Jermaine Pennant, Peter Crouch and Xabi Alonso will move in the summer as they are "not needed" for the new campaign. The imminent arrival of Gareth Barry will provide a replacement for Alonso as a Defensve Midfielder and he can also compensate for the loss of J.A.R even though we have Aurelio and promising youngster Insua at left Back.

Quaresma or Bentley will provide a straight replacement for pennant suggesting that Benitez wants to play with out and out wingers and go back to 4-4-2.

A striker with the quality of Jan Klaas Huntelaar may also arrive and push Dirk Kuyt for a starting place while the arrival of a out and out left winger wouldnt Surprise me.

Hope this has been of use to you all

excatly haydzrox, how can you hate him?? ???
I have to disagree with some things here. I dont think that Finnan will be sold and if he is 3mill is alot for a player of his age IMO. Also if theirry Henry arrives for 6million then penguins will fly if you know what I mean.  I think you just ran out of funds ;D also I dont really like j.cole but I supose thats your opinion. Also the signing of Degan means that Rafinha would be uncalled for IMO. But other than that I agree with you
No I seriously thought that Henry was a possiblity for 6million, and Finnan for 3mil. I think Cole is a great player.
But if we signed Rafinha, he could start in the 11, degen as back-up, I mean he was only a bosman so he could play as a back-up.

I think 1 million for Finnan and its a great deal. He's 32 (?) and coming towards the end. Henry for 6 is a very small possibility but with the circumstances at Barca you never know.

Rafa doesn't like spending big money on more than one player, so you guys can keep on dreaming of all those big name signings.
Check quality players available on free transfers and have a look at youth teams in Spain and South America, then you'll have a better idea of whose coming to Anfield.
David Bentley and Gareth Barry would be two great signings, remember, when Liverpool fills the England team, then both both teams are successful.
Remember our reserves conquered all before them this season, Nemeth, Jordy, Insua, Plessis, Pacheco, El Zhar they are all ready. Leto and Paletta too.
We don't need Mancini and David Silva is rated way higher than you guys are estimating.
Kun Aguero would be the perfect signing and he has said in the past he would love to play for Liverpool.

      Simple as

      In

      Diego - 15 million
      Bently - 10 million
      Marcelo Moreno - 3 million
      Huntelaar - 15 million
      Rafinha - 3 million
      Michael Johnson - 10 million + Hyypia

      Total - 56 million

      Out (Shake it all about)*

      Crouch - 10-15 million
      JAR - 6 million
      Voronin 2 million
      Kuyt - 7 million
      Kewell - 7 million
      Itandje - 10 million
Hyypia (thnks for all the memories but you are getting too old) - 5 million

      Maximum Total - 52 million

Up from the youth and reserves

      Dean Martin - free
      Jack Hobbs - free
      Insua - free
      Nemeth - free

This leaves us with 26 million to spend on other areas or for January when we know what players we need to win the title

you may disagree but I think that that is the squad that could win us the league and more

Has anyone else spotted that the Hicks way of investing £30 million in players is going to happen just like in other transfer periods? Rumours have it that Alonso could be out for £20 million, Crouchy for £10-15 million, JAR for £3-6 million, making a total amount of £35-40 million..... Strangely close to the amount of money he is "investing" in new talent, no?  ::)

Rafa sold him last year, now plays for Boca Juniors.

Won't be any different from your "highly rated" list of Villa, Silva, Mancini etc. He doesn't cost just a penny you know..

Ok dude, seriously. Like Ayrton said KEWELL IS GOING ON A FREE... (sorry for the caps)
Hypia resigned his contract, and he can't go for Michael Johson and 10mil, AND for 5mil.
10mil for Itandje? and keep Carson? You'd be lucky to get 10mil for Carson who's a better goalie, and not as good as bench warming.
Ok Rafinha 3mil?????! surely not, more like 6-8mil.

We won't be able to buy Obi Mikel without being ripped off.
Aguero we wont get. Or Lennon, or Micah Richards.
Kewell is going as he is out of contract, I would personally sell Riise.

For 30mil if that is witout selling players I would be considering at this point in time.

      Out: Kewell (free)                                   IN:Dossena (7mil)
      Voronin(anything)                                        Degen(Free)
      Riise(4mil)                                                   Quaresma(20mil)
      Crouch(15mil)                                              David Villa(20mil)
      Pennant(6mil)                                              Barry(11mil)
      Finnan(2mil)
      Aurelio(4mil)
      Carson(8mil)

      Total:31mil+30mil=61mil spending.
Thats 58mil of spending, so that leaves 11mil which I would spend on a couple of quality youth players.

With these signings I would change back to either 3-2-3-2 or 4-4-2,
3-2-3-2 is a unusual formation and its something like this (with the players I would buy)

                                                      Reina
                           Carra                    Agger             Skrtel
                                     Masch                Alonso/Barry
                        Quaresma              Gerrard                         Babel/Barry
                                   Torres                    David Villa.

Subs: Babel/Alonso/Barry, Dossena, Degen, Kuyt, Benayoun.
Almost subs but not quite: Insua, Arbeloa.

      the 4-4-2 would be simple..

                                                                  Reina
                Arbeloa/Degen        Carra/Skrtel            Agger/Skrtel         Dossena/Insua
                Quaresma              Masch                    Stevie                  Barry/Babel
                                          Torres                     Daid Villa

      subs:Alonso, Kuyt, Benayoun, Skrtel/Agger/Carra(form+fitness depending), Insua/Dossena/Arbeloa/Degen(form+fitness)

We need to be realistic here mate. I don't think there's any way we're going to make ten signings over the summer, and even if we did I wouldn't want Downing in my top ten list anyway. You've been darting about on the transfer board saying "sign him", "sell him" all over the place, but if you want people to take your opinions seriously you need to give a bit more information: why you want a player, what you think he could bring to the team, things like that.

I initially started this thread as a bit of a laugh, for people to give their opinions on how we could change our squad and starting XI for this much money. It was the idea to step into Rafa's shoes a little bit to appreciate how difficult it is nowadays to put together a complete team with quality back-up with the escalating prices clubs are asking for players nowadays. Whilst it was for a giggle, I was hoping people would justify their "buys" and "sales", and back them up with realistic transfer fees, not just put together a mish-mash of famous players or ones who are good on computer games.

If you aren't bothered it doesn't matter, but there are general discussion threads for possible signings and outgoing player threads for... well, it's self-explanitory really! ;) Rant over! ;D

      Outs

      Kewell - free
      Crouchaldinho - 12M
      Riise - 5M
      Carson - 7M
Voronin - bottle of whiskey, maybe a couple glasses with it.
      JP - 6M
      Alonso - 15M
      ---------------------
      45 + 30 = 84M
      84M = happy rafa

      Ins
Dossena - 8M (In Rafa we Trust)
      Degen - free  ( "    "     "     "   )
Bentley - 12M (we need someone who can cross the ball & rotate with Kuyt out on the right)
Barry - 13M (only because O'Neil is bitter and will make sure he costs more than we get for Crouchie. Our replacement for Alonso)
Roque Santa Cruz - 12M OR Mario Gomez - 20M (with Crouch and Voronin out we need depth behind Torres and Babel)
N'Zogbia - 5M (depth, seems like a good young talent for the cost)
      ---------------------------------
      = 26M left

Its surprised me that so many people are adamant on letting him go for a mere few mil when apart from injury effected last season he has been Mr consistent.  I would have thought he would at least be given another season to prove that he still has what it takes to play at the very top.
