He must of been so nervous running onto the pitch, especially when anfield was buzzing like that.Well done Jay it shows you can take on the best of players.Great prospect for the future.

A truly remarkable performance for a kid against the stalwarts of world football. He fitted into the team without any effort just like Insua did when he got a chance. These youngsters deserve to be given a chance now.Lets have a few more performances from him this season & then we can decide who should carry on the role of the fourth choice CM in the squad.

When i saw a wee skinhead on the left handside for Dossenas goal, i thought he was Spearing and was shouting to Babel and Masch "PASS TO JAY, PASS TO JAY". When Dossena scored i jumped up and shouted "F***ing RIGHT!!!!! GO JAY!".  Then i realised it was Dossena who scored and had a laughing fit cause i couldn't believe Dossena scored ;D I really wanted Spearing to get a goal. Well done lad and keep up the good work and you'll get another chance in no time.

:lmao: I was the same!!! I was jumping up and down in my sitting room then my bf was like that was Dossena  :o Then I just started laughing!!

Great night for both lads, hopefully Jay gets a few more sub appearances like that, looked very confident

I've talked about before being an excellent young 'Local Lad' to have in your squad.
Keep it up mate - you'll get your chance!!!

Its a very encouraging sign for young Jay based on last nights performance against Real Madrid. In my opinion for the 15 or so minutes he was on the pitch he looked hungry and very determaned to go forward very much like our captain Stevie G. For me Jay is one to watch and has great potential and i do hope Rafa gives the young lad more opportunity's to play.

Watched him in the reserves for a couple of years and his great little cameo performance last night came as no surprise to me at all. I don't think it would've been to any others that watch the reserves regularly either!

True. I was just pleased to see him get on and show what we've seen him do for a long time. He's one of those players who'll play pretty much the same whether it's against Real Madrid or Blackburn reserves. Which says a lot about his character.

One thing I'd say to anyone who hasn't watched him play a full game before - don't be deceived by his size.

It was an Alonso like pass. Gold!

Anyone see Gerrard give him a hug at the end of the game?

Must be a wonderful dream to get hugs from players like Stevie. After all, Stevie used to be at the position where Jay is at the moment.

He did okay, didn't light up the place but he didn't look out of place last night. Hope it can be the start of a few more games coming towards the end of the season for Spearing.

I thought he did exceptionally well TBH.

His determination in winning back the ball was exemplary, many seasoned professionals could learn a thing or two from him.

I was impressed by the vision of his passing, too. He didn't opt for soft, easy passing, but lifted his head and chose decisive ones.

I bet he was on cloud nine when the 'There's Only One Jay Spearing!!' chant went up.

First time I've ever seen him play and he's very promising indeed, that pass to Kuyt was magic.

      Keep it up Jay!!

I love Jay, one i want to see break into the first team permanently. Did ever so well in the Madrid match, hope this means more faith in him from Rafa, especially in the league.
