Yeah £500,000 fee apparently being reported. Some rave reviews, what I like most is it's more of the talent wanting to come to Liverpool as our academy grows stronger as does it's lure to other young talent, almost like Barca. Utd, Spurs etc were reported to be interested too, more competition for places amongst young talents like this will only make the strive to be better and of course better for us in the long run. The future is looking brighter than it has for a long, long time.

      IBE SIGNS FOR LIVERPOOL

      Tue 20 Dec 2011

Jordon Ibe has joined Premier League side Liverpool.

The 16-year-old, a prodigious talent from Wycombe's thriving youth system, completed his move today after an agreement was reached between the two clubs.

"It's a fantastic move for him," said Gary Waddock. "He's a phenomenal talent which is why we gave him a chance to show what he can do at first-team level.

"Obviously we wanted to keep him, but we didn't want to stand in the way of an opportunity he deserves.

"I have no doubt in my mind that he will go on to become a big star and I will be keeping a close eye on his progress.

"I would like to wish him and his family all the best for the future."

Ibe is the latest in a long line of players who have used their time at Adams Park as a springboard to further their careers, following the likes of Russ Martin (Norwich), Roger Johnson (Wolves), Mike Williamson (Newcastle) and Matt Phillips (Blackpool) to the higher echelons of English football.

The attacker has shot to stardom this season, becoming the youngest ever player to represent the Blues in the Football League and the youngest ever scorer for the club in its 124-year history.

Born in Bermondsey, South London, Ibe arrived at Adams Park as a 12-year-old after being released by Charlton Athletic.

After two superb seasons in the club's youth team, Jordon burst onto the scene in the first team's opening pre-season friendly of the summer, scoring a wonder goal in the 5-0 win at Staines Town.

He made his senior debut in the Carling Cup clash with Colchester United in August, aged just 15 years and 244 days, and scored a stunning individual goal on his first ever professional start in the npower League 1 fixture with Sheffield Wednesday in October.

Goes to show how a change or venue/manager can affect a youngster, hopefully he can continue to grow for us and be part of our future. Really chuffed by the quality of youngsters added in the last year.

On Wikipedia it says he was let go by Charlton at the age of 12 in 2007, if that is true then he may have only started to show his real talent at Wycombe.

Liverpool FC delight at the signing of Jordon Ibe

      by James Pearce, Liverpool Echo
      Dec 24 2011

THERE'S delight inside Liverpool FC at beating off competition from a number of Premier League rivals to land teenager Jordon Ibe.

The Reds have been monitoring the talented forward's progress since he impressed during a trial last summer and this week they finally wrapped up a deal with his League One club Wycombe Wanderers.

Ibe will start at the Kirkby Academy but Wycombe boss Gary Waddock has no doubt that the 16-year-old will flourish at Liverpool FC.

“He'll be a success,” Waddock said. “It's up to him now how far he wants to go. I'm sure Liverpool will get the best out of him. It's not only a career changing decision, it's a life changing one as well, for him and his family.

“It's a fantastic opportunity for him and one where we couldn't stand in his way. I'm absolutely delighted for him and his family.”
