Enke commits suicide

Mate just told me German keeper Enke has been found dead - comitted suicide.

Chills up my body. Extremely tragic.

Just waiting on confirmation.

Personal life and death

Robert Enke was married to wife Teresa and had a daughter, Lara, who died (aged 2) on 17 September 2006 due to a heart birth defect. They lived together on a farm.[7]

He was involved with his wife in the animal rights campaign, and they had many pets themselves. He lent his face to the PETA campaign against the fur industry. He was especially against the use of cat and dog pelts in China.[11]

On 10 November 2009 he died in a train accident in Neustadt am Rübenberge.[12] This was later confirmed by local police to be suicide.

Think he was becoming the German #1, he could've had some great years ahead of him.

German football is in shock following the news that Hannover 96 goalkeeper Robert Enke has died at the age of 32.

The death of the former Benfica and Barcelona stopper, who had eight caps for Germany and was tipped to be their number two at next summer's World Cup finals, was confirmed by Hannover president Martin Kind on Tuesday afternoon.

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but German website Morgenpost Online are claiming suicide and have quoted a spokesperson from the Hannover police as saying: 'Enke has thrown himself under a train at Neustadt am Rübenberge.'

It's very sad. Maybe it is related to the death of his child.

His daughter died 3 years ago it seems.

Not sure if it's that/problems with wife or family, or what really.

Must have been a hell of a shock for the train driver too. My thoughts are also with him at what must be a very difficult time. I knew someone who's father worked on the trains in NYC and had that happen to him just before retirement when he was driving the train and it really affected him.

Don't know why I didn't even think about that.

Strange thing isn't it life. That train driver did absolutely wrong - and now it's possible he'll have the guilt of killing someone for the rest of his life, even though there's not anything he could've done to stop it happening.

Robert Enke has stood up for animals and children most vulnerable individuals. His daughter died at the age of 2 years because she had a heart defect. He was a great man and all of Germany are mourning.
