Olympiakos have announced the signing of Liverpool midfielder Albert Riera on a four-year deal.
Albert Riera did not play for Liverpool following his outburst
Riera, who joined Liverpool from Espanyol for a fee of £8 million in the summer of 2008, is reported to have joined the Greek giants for a fee in the region of £3.3 million.
"Olympiakos announce the acquisition of Liverpool's Spanish international Albert Riera," a statement from the Greek club read. "The player has signed a four-year agreement."
Riera enjoyed an impressive debut season at Liverpool, starting 24 games and scoring four goals in the Premier League, but the 2009-10 campaign was more difficult for the 28-year-old.
Riera was restricted to just nine league starts and spectacularly fell out with former manager Rafa Benitez in March when accusing his compatriot of ignoring him, and claiming the vendetta was "personal".
The winger also described Liverpool as a "sinking ship" and spoke of his desire to secure a move to the Russian league. Riera stayed at Anfield but never played for the Reds again.
Riera is the second high-profile figure to leave Anfield this summer following Yossi Benayoun, who has joined Chelsea. He arrived in Athens to complete talks with Olympiakos on Thursday evening and was greeted by thousands of supporters.
