£12 million for Cole is a piss take how many goals does he get a season, around 3 or 4.

I'd have serious doubts about Hodgson if he spends £12 million on this lad. West Ham fans would be pissing themselves laughing if anyone paid this much.

The guy has a strike rate of 1 out of 4 games with West Ham, got to love those over-priced England players though I do believe Stoke are really interested in buying Cole.

I'm beginning to see Woy's plan, then he's going to go in for Cashley for left back and complete his Cole treble to complete his master plan muwahhhhh muwahhhhhh (evil laugh) ;D

Probably wants to stack the odds in our favour, every team thats won the premier league has had a player with the last name Cole in their team at some point (Before or After they won it).

Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Blackburn ;)

£12 million for Cole is a piss take how many goals does he get a season, around 3 or 4.

In the Premier League (last two seasons) he's played a total of 4523 minutes scoring twenty times (ten each season). That's a goal every 226 minutes - or (the equivalent of) one every 2.5 games. He's also got nine assists in that period........and all in a very ordinary team when surrounded by very ordinary players.

Cole is a good centre forward, in my opinion and he'd shine when being supplied by the likes of Joe Cole, Gerrard, Aquilani and Maxi. He's big, strong, can play a bit, is only hitting his peak and is no slouch - i wouldn't be too despondent if we were to end up signing him.

As for the money? Well, we can only spend it if we've got it.

The only reason I would want him hee s that he is the highest calibre of striker who would be ok with sitting on the bench until needed. The likes of Huntelaar would want to start every game and complain when not. Cole would know his place in the squad.

Couldn't agree more - would be a massive waste of 12 million. Remy is going to be a much better player and would cost basically the same.

Liverpool show interest in Hammers striker Cole

Liverpool have made enquires to sign West Ham's Carlton Cole, but have been put off by a valuation in excess of £10 million.

West Ham centre-forward Cole has rejected a move to Stoke City, but he would be open to the possibility of moving to Anfield this summer.

Soccernet understands Tony Pulis was prepared to blow his entire Stoke budget on signing the striker, who on Saturday was named in Fabio Capello's latest England squad, only to be rejected.

However, if a big club came in with a bid that equalled or topped Stoke's, then the Hammers could well sell their star striker.

An insider told Soccernet: "Carlton would like a move to Liverpool, but they are short on funds as everyone knows."

West Ham have brought five new players to the club already this summer and are now in the process of reviewing potential sales.

Stoke's offer for Cole would have brought them close to the £12 million valuation West Ham have now placed on Cole, though at the start of the summer they thought he might even fetch £15 million.

Obviously not worth 12m but i'm sure he could do  a job and I often find that we are miss not aving a true out and out target man man that can take down the ball and pass it through to torres to do what he does best.

Please NO....Do not sign Charlton Cole, and why you may ask? well he can't head it and will never win it in the air,his first touch is laughable,he can't pass it,he can't score..I hope this is tabloid speculation and not set in concrete....If this comes off, already we will be one step behind,I'm telling you Ngog is much better and will get better,Cole is the finished article and will get worse....Save the money look around we have time...Roy lets do this right.

Not Carlton Cole, please.  Overrated and lazy.

What about Gaby Agbonlahor - 23, raw skill? After today's news at Villa, players may want to leave.  In an ideal world, would like us to put in bids for both Ashley Young and Gaby.

I'd have them both but would we be able to afford them? More on topic though - Roy don't even F***ing bother with a bid for Carlton Cole!!

We've gone from not having so much money to selling one of our prize assets and replacing him with a Robbie Savage wannabee and one of the worst English players that currently still plies their trade in the Premiership.
