Absolutely ridiculous that in a year we needed to strengthen during the transfer window to get back into the Top 4, we have been left with a 23 man senior squad and £10M in profit which will be lost in loan repayments.  What was the point of shipping out Nemeth and Aquilani when there was space for them in the squad?  Utterly mind boggling!?!?!

Sadly nothing surprises me anymore its got to be part of their plan to lessen overheads to help meet intrest payments with a view of refinancing again

Ok guys, without going into detail- i am well aware of the facts surrounding our club.
But what reasons do we have for not believing our club will be sold?
Sure Purslow is a slimeball, Broughton is a Chavski supporter & our owners are dickheads- but surely we should still with-hold some optimism?

Too many people on here are wayyy to negative, sure when Man-Shitty thump us, then we can moan.
But has this summer not been ALMOST everything we wanted it to be?
      -Torres & Gerrard to stay
      -Summer signings
      -New Manager
      -Club to be sold

3 out of 4 cant be bad!

I remember chatting on here talking about what a huge summer we had ahead of us- and things were not looking good! No manager, very few players commiting themselves, dickhead yanks.
But apart from twit & tw*t still being here, have we pretty much got what we wanted?
Without listing them- our summer could have been a hell of alot worse!

But i think we could win the league, and someone would find something to moan about!

      Torres and Gerrard stay.
How long can we expect them to commit to a club that promised them investment in the playing staff
only to do completely the opposite. At this rate we may find Torres off to Barca in a year once the Ibra deal
gets converted from loan to sale.

      Summer signings/dealings.
Three years in a row now we have operated at a profit in the transfer window, while those above and
below us invest in their respective squads. Even Sunderland now have a better set of options upfront than
us...Torres is one of the best in the world, but beneath that we rely on a 1.5m player. Those around us at
least have options of 10million players if the main striker becomes injured. I like Ngog, don't get me wrong, I'm
merely highlighting the lack of investment in striking options.

      Club Being Sold.
I'll believe it when I see it at this stage. I was positive during the Huang interest, like many, but where are the
supposed other interested parties now. No longer are the board even trying to convince us they exist. All we
witness now is a fire sale of playing staff at all levels.

      New Manager.
Roy will do his best. Is that good enough?
For now... It's all we've got. Best of luck Roy

      Article from The Offside [http://liverpool.theoffside.com/team-news/the-tipping-point.html]:

      "The Tipping Point
      By: Ed | August 31st, 2010

      All this over Carlton Cole?

      Of course not.

But the West Ham striker had been linked with Liverpool for weeks now, and it was expected that come Tuesday night heā€™d be Anfield-bound. If not him, there would be othersā€”Fernando Torres is coming off an injury riddled 2009-2010 season and an underwhelming World Cup performance, and his only true back-up, David Ngog, currently has injury concerns of his own. The young Frenchman has been encouraging in his performances thus far, scoring four goals in three matches to start the season, but his ability to be successful as a go-to striker is largely unknown. A move for a striker, at least according to 300 of you, was the top priority.

So naturally, all Liverpool do is go out and snatch up Paul Konchesky. Nothing like fixing a problem that you created for yourself.

The day in total saw six players leave Anfield, all part of deals that are either permanent or, in the inexplicably f*cking stupid case of Emiliano Insua, a loan with a sale on the horizon. Hereā€™s the activity on the way out:

[table does not copy and paste]

Six players, all under the age of 25. For a club whose youth academy was finally made right, today was mostly a case of ā€œbuy for now, develop for sale.ā€

Dalla Valle and Kacaniklic were part of the semi-swap that brought Konchesky to Anfield, and along with Plessis, Weijl, and Insua, they would have qualified as homegrown talent in the coming years. All arrived with some level of acclaim, and all performed at a level of note at one point or another. Iā€™d argue that, outside of Insua, the exit of Dalla Valle stings the most. Heā€™s lit the youth and reserve squadsā€™ opposition on fire in the past few years, and along with Dani Pacheco, he looked to have a bright future.

You wonā€™t be surprised that I reserved a special place to rail on the stupidity of loaning Emiliano Insua with a view to a permanent move. The only circumstance in which this makes sense is if the player himself was so desperate to leave that heā€™d go anywhere, but we never heard anything along these lines. And with Liverpool these days, youā€™d think something would have most certainly found its way out.

Otherwise, itā€™s an absolutely terrible move made worse by the fact that, just to replace Insua, the club shipped off Insua, Dalla Valle, and Kacaniklic. Plus cash. For Paul Konchesky. Itā€™s probably unfair to Konchesky that heā€™s at the center of it all, but thereā€™s no sense to be made out of creating a problem out of a perfectly fine situation and then patting yourself on the back when you solve the problem.

The talk of ā€œLiverpool solving their left-back dilemmaā€ is an absolute jokeā€”donā€™t make the dilemma in the first place by forcing out a talented young player.

But unfortunately, itā€™s not just about Insua, or Carlton Cole, or Dalla Valle, or Konchesky. Itā€™s about the fact that the owners profit anywhere between Ā£7m to Ā£10m on the yearā€™s dealings. Itā€™s about the fact that, time and again, they lie to the supporters, to the players and staff, and, at this point, very likely to themselves.

Iā€™ve staved off getting heavily involved in commenting on the ins and outs of the ownership tragedyā€”the financial aspect is over my head, and a low boil seemed appropriate when a sale looked to be on the horizon. After today, though, I donā€™t know that avoiding the topic is possible.

This day was a perfect microcosm of the damage theyā€™ve done to the clubā€”driving away committed young players, buying on the cheap, and pocketing millions (at least temporarily) in a transfer window that was supposed to see the club improved greatly. Devoid of class, dignity, loyalty, or honor, they once again played Liverpool for a fool.

Eventually itā€™s got to stop. But until it does, things are looking mighty scary."

A lot of fuss about Insua - is this the same Insua that most people decided last year was nowhere near good enough for LFC?

That would be the same gobs***e support that is telling us to forget about Rafa and get behind Roy and the team.

      You are probably right.

We need an announcement asap on the "takeover" process asap.  Don't want some BS statement that says nothing.  And no hiding - come out and tell us in a press conference. What's the score - do we have serious bids or not and is one going to be accepted?  What next?  There had to be a timescale for reviewing and deciding upon bids. Once that timeline passes, there is no need for this secrecy.

What annoys me so is that if the banks applied more pressure to sell, the price of the club would be reduced (tell me Hicks and Gilette, did you buy the club for £800M and by "you" I mean your loaned to the hilt approach), more bidders would come forward and we might be seeing the back of Hicks and Gilette by now and not a record number of player exits).

Missing the point over the Insua example.
      - If we were going to get ONE player in the last few days of the transfer window, it should have been a striker. We already had a homegrown left back in Insua - not the best, no BUT we have Aurelio, Kellly and Agger for that position too.
      - Insua wasnt considered to be of a high Liverpool standard and yes, last year plenty (including me) criticised him.  But as we've been reduced to bargain basement shopping, he wasn't much worse than the players we've been linked with recently.
      - Squads needed to be trimmed with the 25 man squad rule but we've been left under-resourced! The Nemeth, LDV and Aquilani sales do not make sense in the context of (A) there was space; (b) we made a transfer PROFIT.

We all know what G&H is all about but RBS and Bar Cap to be fully held responsible for allowing the serial killers to still continue their act of damaging the club. Why don't they pull the plug off the Yanks when Huang's bid was on the table? Greedy bas****ds.

"Why Liverpool fans deserve to be told the truth by Broughton and Purslow
      By David Maddock
      Published 14:34 01/09/10

For the fourth transfer window in succession, Liverpool have made a profit.

That is a worrying, depressing, statistic that puts into stark perspective the damage that is being done to this great club.

The financial reality at Anfield over the past two years is they have made a healthy operating profit, generated by an impressive performance from the excellent commercial team now in place at the club.

They are more than a match for any other club in world football when it comes to generating commercial revenue, which should guarantee healthy investment in playing staff.

It hasnā€™t, because that profit has been swallowed up by crippling debts placed on the club by owners who lied about their intentions, when they bought Liverpool.

They said they would pay for Liverpool with their own money. They didnā€™t.

They said they would invest in playing staff. For the past two years they havenā€™t.

They said they would invest in a new stadium. They didnā€™t.

Instead they have grown just one thing. Debt. To the extent that it will reach Ā£300million by the end of the year. And rising.

Truly, this situation canā€™t be allowed to go on any longer. Roy Hodgson is a talented manager, but he is no messiah. He can not turn water into wine. He can not turn a seventh-placed team into a Championsā€™ League outfit, by selling some of his best players and replacing them with cut-price alternatives.

It is economic madness. If Liverpool donā€™t have the lifeblood of Championsā€™ League revenue consistently, they face collapse, and yet their debts mean the manager is not allowed to compete for the top four place that will bring it.

So what can be done? For a start, the fans have to make clear they have had enough of this nonsense. First and foremost to the American owners, by telling them they simply have to go now, and any plan to refinance will be met with passionate resistance.

And the fans have to make clear their feelings to chairman Martin Broughton too, who has a massive role to play in the future of Liverpool Football Club.

Broughton never speaks to the Merseyside media, he doesnā€™t think we are important enough. Neither does chief executive Christian Purslow. They both though, seem to have a regular dialogue with well-placed business journalists in London.

So the business world is told there are at least five bidders for Liverpool, and a deal can be done by the end of August, while you, the real fan, are told nothing.

Now, both are strangely silent when it seems there are no bids on the table after all. And a transfer window comes and goes without any investment in the team, even when the whole future of the club depends on it.

So the time has come to let the chairman and chief executive know that you the fan wonā€™t put up with this any more. You want to know what is happening, and when it will happen.

There is an organisation called Kopfaithful - check out their website. They are dedicated to saving not just the football club, but the community areas around the stadium too, which are being devastated by the lack of promised investment in infrastructure.

Kopfaithful have mounted a campaign in recent weeks aimed at putting pressure on the RBS to stop bailing the Americans out with further loans that require greater and greater levels of repayment. The sort of repayments that prevent any investment in players during the transfer window.

They have also identified several banks who have been approached by the Americans over refinancing, and they are campaigning to ensure those banks know what a disaster it will be if their regime is extended at Anfield.

True Liverpool fans must add their voice to this campaign, must make clear to the Americans and to the banks that further refinancing is not an option.

The next round of refinancing comes up in October, and if RBS extend once more, then they should realise they will become a massive target for millions of Liverpool supporters around the globe.

And if Broughton continues to ignore the fans and their wishes, then he too must realise he will become a target.

To simply cut off all dialogue with the fans when things become a little difficult is never the answer ā€“ Broughton and Purslow have to tell us whatā€™s really going on, and do it now."
