Why the f**k are people saying Meireles isn't fit?!?

He's played for Portugal twice in the last week!

      Must be tired then ;)

I can't imagine Roy favoured Poulsen... unless he is saving Meireles for Europe... hmmm...

I hope what happens is this:

      - When attacking, the middle two take a defensive position and let the fullbacks bomb on.
      - At the same time, the wingers drift inside and take up the position that the middle two would usually take up.

This not only confuses the fans (us & Birmingham) but also the opposition. And it makes sense.
Has quit a Brazil feeling to it :P

What are you on about? They shouldn't be starting in the same team especially in a Liverpool team against Birmingham.

      Read it again.

I don't like the fact they're starting together, but it could be a ploy by Roy. It makes sense to me.

I don't think it is that bad, if we dominate the midfield from the beginning both lucas & poulsen will get confidence as time goes on.

      Come on.

Because Pacheco is 19, because he is 5ft 6 against big, hard defenders?
Swap him for Jovanovic and you've got a point - though we'd be playing Stevie slightly out of his best position.
This game is perfect for pacheco all Birmingham's defenders are quite slow he would run rings round them, and Stevie's best postion is centre midfield mate where he can boss the game.

I've seen you're point but to be honest if that's his ploy, he should be seeking retirement. We need to control the middle, what will probably end up happening is our wingers coming inside and being very narrow due to lack of distribution.

He hasn't "favoured" Poulsen TK, he's favoured Lucas. Think about it.

Poulsen, after being swapped for "a gifted footballer" (Aquilani), must start; if only to justify that decision. Lucas on the other hand was told he would be sold "if the right offer came".

Poulsen - we'll see a lot of and we best get used to that.

I'm extremely disappointed with our midfield pair and Agger being left out as well.

I think we will struggle to create anything and we will be lucky to come out with a draw. The pairing of Lucas and Poulsen together should be F***ing banned.

I can't wrap my head around the midfield pair. It makes no sense to me. Meireles or Gerrard should be in the middle.

I can understand Skrtel over Agger because Roy had to think Zigic would feature for Brum.

Still, I obviously prefer Agger to Skrtel most every night.

Come on! We will have to work this but we should have the talent and mentality for it. Raul and Dani in the second half should get at their players when they start to tire.

We must harass their defence and midfield much much more. We're giving them too much respect.
