I don't get the people who stick up for them so much. It seems odd to me not just because of the lack of success since they joined or their consistent failure to get deals over the line, but also because they are very obviously treating us as an asset.
They are, after all, yank businessmen (see: burgers, relentless TV commercials, H&G; environmental, social and economic catastrophes etc. ) who took advantage of a dire situation to 'rescue' us and in so doing made a tonne of money.
Who in their right mind would think, 'ah, yeah, they've obviously got our interests at heart'? There is only so much overlap that exists between our interests as supporters and their interests as owners.
Obviously they don't want us being relegated and success on the pitch is clearly good for business, but equally there is a limit to how much they are prepared to do to ensure we are equipped to win major trophies and that falls short of the high expectations most of us as supporters rightly seek to uphold.
How else can you explain our failure to make a single bid for our main transfer target this summer without even having a plan B in case it didn't come off or waiting until the final few days to bid for Lemar?
