      I've gone for runner's up.

I think Chelsea have a decent enough squad, but the £££'s seem to now have unsettled the squad - third for them.
Liverpool - have to get off to a great start. Will be interesting to see how many new signings will be first teamers. Need to win against middle / top teams away from home !!
Moan Urinals - defo have the squad now. Seems to have quality all over it (maybe short of cover in defence).

Arsenal, well they've got to battle with Spurs for fourth.

So, apart from Torres, I don't think we've signed what you call a genuine first team player. Maybe, Babel will / hopefully prove me wrong, but it could be more of the same, with a little more consistency.
Last season, the early fixtures caught us out with having to play the BIG 3 and the bluesh1te away early on. These games came too early for us and we struggled.
Now, as Gerrard states, we cannot afford a slack start, the first 2 months are so vital for us (as-well as the next 8 months after).
Let's hope we're all still buzzing with anticipation come November, and can push for that top spot by May.
That's my view, just trying to be realistic.

I have to say runner up spot this year. I just cant see anyone knocking The Manc sh*te off the top this year. They have bought some class players, that can only strengthen what was already, a pretty formidable squad.......hate to say It but 2nd for me. But this time next year...............

I've had to go with runners up also. I really really REALLY want it to be better than that, but I'm just not sure of it at the moment. Maybe once we've got all the transfers done and dusted I can sit back and take it all in, but untill the windows closed I thinks it's still up in the air.

Going to reserve judgement on this until I see who we sign. Based on our current squad I'd say third, but a lot further ahead of Arsenal & closer to the top two. I do honestly believe though that if we buy the right two wingers we could be first this season.

Going for us to be Champions come May.  I think with the consistansy at the start of the season, and no stupid results like 0-0 against Middlesborough away.  We must put as many points away as we can.  And also, not to be beaten by Man United, Arsenal, or Chelsea.

Hopefully we should fill the holes this coming season!

I'm afraid I have to go for third place at the min, but definitely a lot closer to United and Chelsea. I think Man U squad has quality all over it and I'm afraid they may just edge us unless we sign two top class wingers. I don't know much about Babel but hopefully he may be one of the answers to our winger problems. Chelsea have also improved on their squad and I can see Malouda being a decent aquisition for them. Hopefully I am proved wrong on this and will change my opinion if we sign anymore players!!

I think Arsenal may find it tough this season and I can see spurs pipping them for fourth place. Every year for the past 3 seasons I have said we will finish top so this year I will be a bit more cautious and it may happen ;)

I have to go with a runners-up spot for this season.

I think it will take time for our newer players to settle in and get used to Rafa's squad rotation plans.

God I hope I'm wrong though!!! Come on lads. Lets go all the way......

Sorry to be a pessimist but I had to go for third spot as for me it's not possible to gauge any progress we might make until we see what influence the new signings have. I do however agree that at least we are now competing for a better class of player than we have been in recent years and the introduction of more skilful players can only help improve those who need it and galvanise those who don’t, and I am especially looking forward to the Torres/Kuyt partnership.
But for me it is absolutely essential that we don’t make our usual sluggish start to a season and stick to the usual top two like glue,as mrtommo said if we where top or thereabouts come November then I think Josie and Taggart would have to deal with a three horse race instead of two and obviously the club would start to gain confidence and momentum as we go into our traditionally stronger part of the season.
As I say my boring practical side says third, but if everything gels then who knows? I suppose I just don’t want to tempt fate and predict a title come May but deep down I suppose every Red starts the season with that dream in mind.

Gone for second but if your in the mix at the run in come April/May, then anythink can happen.  I like the fact that we have cover in almost every position on the park, you have only got to look at Chelski last year, playing Essien at center half when they had no one else to play (they still haven't got a fit left back now) it cost them the title.

A good start breeds confidence and expectation, so lets hope we have a good first 10 games eh!

Runners up spot for me too!

I think with a few more signings then it will be a good race between us and United but at the moment their depth and quality is just too much for us!

Chelsea don't seem to be any further than they were at the end of the season! Even after a few signings, they still seem the same!

Hate to say it as well, but I ,unfortunately think we will finish s....s....s....second >:(.  I think the Mancs will win it but they won't have a 21 point margin over us this season....they just seem to have quality all over the park...except that pr**k Neville who I still reckon is very much overrated. As for Chelski....I'm hoping they're fighting for 3rd with Arsenal, Tottenham and the Trotters and we can put some distance between ourselves and those also rans so that in the last few weeks, we're not looking over our shoulders but in front of us at those Mancs, hoping they drop vital points to hand us the Title. I'd just love it if the Mancs lost there 2 games against Keano's Sunderland and in the end that's what cost them the Title.....oh yeah and we beat them twice as well ;)....they say dreams do come true..

I really think that we can make it and that we will make it, so I'll go for Champion. I agree that we might have not signing the top class player except Torres but in the same time the club, the squad, the fan all of us know that this will be our target number one.

The premiership is always been something out of this world in terms of adventure and with a very good start this season I dont see why we couldn't make it. With the january thransfer window, we might be able to bring players that we missed this summer and that will give us plenty of time to change things if needed, the only condition will be to start well and keep consistent till then. Come on Reds.

Champions for me. But follow my logic.

I've had my season ticket for 14 years now but this season our kid is having it off me (just for this year mind!) as i've got a new job working most weekends. I'll pick up tickets for the games I can make through friends.

So what you ask? Well it's sods bloody law that we will the league this year when I'm hardly ever there, playing some of the most entertaining football we've seen in years!  ???

If we get a decent right winger and carra and stevie remain injury free I can see us coming 2nd and only trailing United  by a few points. I think that would be a pretty good result as United have....and I'm having to swallow the bile that is surging up my throat.....have bought class players and can't look beyond them. As for the chavs, I can see the wheels flying off that one......train wreck in the making!

As for going down....Fulham, Derby and Wigan....they bought Bramble so they must want to be relegated!

      I have to agree with most of you, it was are bad start to last season that cost us a lot, we where always playing catch up after that, but;
most games last season we won, what I'm trying to say is, over the 90mins we won the game, but we could not score goals and that was are down fall, how many games did you see us out playing the other team.
We had a whole new line up front, and it does take time, Kuyt did a good job most of the season, but he did run out of steam in the last 1/4(but that could be due to his dad), so I'm hoping for a lot more this season.
Pennant, got better as the season went on, if he carries that on this season.
Kewell, we have him back this season, if we can keep him fit I'm hoping good things of him.
Crouch, I'm not a great lover of him, but what he does do is change the game, if it not working one way then we do have the players to change the game.
Torres, is a good buy, he is a player who works for the team, but can score a goal out of nothing, so I'm looking for big things from him, but give him time.
Babel, he is a good buy, he takes people on, but he young it might take a season to get the best out of him.
What we did lack last season was goals from midfield, we where very good in this dept. but also very bad due to lack of goals, but I'm sure this will in prove this season.
Man.U were lucky last season, they did run out of steam from Feb. on wards, but so did the rest of the top 4, but Man.U have made some good buys this season, that puts them in the same boat as us, new players take time.

So hand on heart, IF we get off to a good start, them I'm looking for 2nd, but knocking on the door to win it, with some very good cup rune's.

I've gone for 2nd aswell, think with the players we've signed we can expect at least 9-10 more points on last season, Chelsea in my opinion have really bought players who will make them closer to Utd (Maluda is overrated and in it for the money!) so I think its Urinals 1st then us and we'll push them alot closer than we have done!

Very difficult to assess before a ball is kicked, depends on a nu,ber of things.
      1 - New siginings
I rate torres and i think he will be a great sucess.
Babel, lets face it we all know very little. I watched him in the U21 tournament, he looked good. BUT exactly how many pepole look good in the U21's and go on to be a nobody, i would probably say 65%. If Rafa has unearthed a gem then see section 2
Yossi, a quality footballer, but where is he playing?
Voronin, i know nowt (except he looks like emanuel pettit a bit! Squad Player
Heinz, i think represents good business if we get and makes us tighter defensively.

      2 - Formation
There are literally too many prospects to mention. Wingers i think are key. Does Rafa see Babel and Yossi as the answer, if so where do Kewell and Pennant fit in?

      3 - Away form
Lets face it, it was sh!te last year, essential this improves from the very first game.

4 - Beating the big boys
Need to beat the big teams home and away.

Hand on heart i think we will get 15 points more than last year, if these points are taken off the teams around us then it will be very close but i have chosen second.

I've gone for 2nd as well - mainly because I don't think Chelsea have strengthened much so far (but probably to be proved wrong over the next month) and it will take time for all the new players to learn a) the Liverpool way and b) the physical nature of th PL so I'm not expecting to get off to a flyer, which is what killed us last season.

But I'm happy to be proved wrong!  :D

Finishing second and closing the gap to the top, with a good run in the cups, would be a huge achievement.

Expecting us to win the title this season is unrealistic.

The mancs were lucky last season in terms of injuries but have bought well this summer and we are still 2/3 seasons behind them.

I think the chavs are there for the taking but it won't be easy.

Right now, I'll settle for a team that entertains, and sets out to win every game instead of hoping not to lose.

The trick is to have an injury-free season, and maybe, just maybe, a settled side.

      Here's hoping !

In my opinion we will finish runners up this coming season behind the mancs with chelsea a close third. i am hoping and (dreaming ;D) we can win the league and im looking forward to seeing our new signings i watched the under 21 's and babel looked a decent player and of course torres too i was made up we signed him and i cant wait to see him score his first goal, but i think the mancs have bought well and added to an already talented squad. i think with our new signings we can beat chelsea home and away this season and this will make the difference between our final positions.

I believe that Liverpool will be the champions this season, because it is the only thing we should be focusing on. Last season, I think Benitez knew that we were not good enough yet, and so laid off the pressure when it came to Premiership games. This season, we have a good squad, and a team which can challenge and beat the top sides, and roll over the mid-table sides we all to often drew against before. Kuyt will be our top scorer next season, and will get of to a blinder at the start of the season, along with the rest of the squad. So, I predict a champion finish next season.

I`ve gone for the runners up as well.
Unfortunately i think Fergie`s squad is too good at the moment.

Hope i`m wrong though and the new signings gel pretty quickly into the team.
Consistancy has to be a lot better especially with the lesser tems, far too many stupid points thrown away last season.
We have to start and make our possession count and be more of a threat in front of goal which hopefully we will have with our new signings.

Given the currentl signings and the huge expectation for winning the Prem this year I am prepared to 'stick my neck out' and say we could win it.

Need a very good start however and MUST beat the top four sides in our quest for the title.

      We can do it!

This has to be our season, with the new strike force we have bought, we have no excuse not to push Manchester U til the end. I'm pretty much ecpecting at least a runner up spot.

I've got everything crossed that this year we'll win it, and I'm hoping for a good run in the cup competitions too

I think we are a bit short of winning the title as the urinals have been very busy and added to a very strong squad.  If we can beat Chelsea to second spot it will be a good stepping stone to bring the title home the season after.  Obviously, this could change if we do more business in the transfer market and if our recruits settle quicker than those of the urinals.

It seems to me that mourinho is going to revert to a more consistent 4-5-1 system next season.  If so, then it depends on the new and so-called upcoming teams to take points from them.
