Youtube scouting video and associate hysteria, well looks like the virus has spread to yet another thread.

Good player, better than people give him credit for. But I'm not going to pretend I've seen a lot of him or Cahill because in truth I haven't so I'm not sure who'd be better.

But seriously ripping him on the basis of a two minute Youtube video?

I'm reluctant to even engage in discussion someone who thinks Phil Jagielka is the best centre half in the league, but lets go against opur better judgement and have a look at it.

I'm not disputing the free kick he gives away is "won" by the fall, but he gives the attacker license to do that by coming at the ball from the wrong angle. He doesn't need to "win the ball" fairly or otherwise, the pass is into an area where he can't get to it given the attackers body position, and he makes a mistake by trying. As for his passing, I never accused him of "hoofing" the ball. I simply made the point that his natural out ball in this particular clip is the same one every time, AND he has time to consider his options.

I agree it's just one clip, but I didn't post it up. That's why I said "it's to be hoped he's better than this", simply because the clip isn't that impressive.

When fit and with matches behind him Jagielka is as good in this league as anyone.

Coming at the ball from the wrong angle, what angle would you like him to come from? He's showing him the outside at first as he should be and then he sees an opportunity to intercept the ball which he does. There's nothing wrong with that defending and it shouldn't have been a free kick just because Kalou conned the ref which he could have done with any other centre back. He quite clearly can get to the ball and does so fairly.

I don't see how his out ball matters, does it get out? Yeah. Carragher is hardly Beckenbauer is he but it's good enough.

Haha is that video clip a piss take??

What qualities are you supposed to see from that? Him knocking the ball about when the closest Chelsea player is 20 yards away, making a bundling foul on Kalou and ending up on his arse in 2 aerial duels with Drogba.

Bundling foul? Seriously I'd love to see you lot at a Sunday league game on the touchlines. Kalou runs across him, he shows him outside so Kalou has to adjust and in so doing Dann has every right to stand his ground and/or go for the ball. There's f**k all wrong with that tackle.

What do you want him to do, stand off his man on the outside of him (better angle apparently) and not make the tackle?

And what? I only just saw it and it was relevant to this thread. Shouldn't you be watching some Spanish third division 5 aside u-16s match anyway?

He doesn't even look that bad in that clip the only time he did bad was at the kick off with that one touch & that foul which imo wasn't a foul, he fell over like a sack of sh*t.

Good Solid Player we could do with him & he's a Red.
Cahil is probably better but i'd guess he would cost more.

Dann for me as he's a scouser & a Red Cahil is a wool so he's
      probably a manc.

Cahill is a better player that is all that should matter, Fowler, Rush McManaman, Carragher all followed Everton. I don't really care who Dann follows to be honest

I personally think that we,ll get Dann as Cahill has said he wants CL football but then again the way we seem to be spending we could get both.

Is Cahill better though? sometimes he lacks concentration... I honestly dont know which is the better player. I do like Danns story though from non league to Premiership in under five years.  I think he deserves a shot with a big team and he is a Liverpool fan.
Edit... after reading Wiki he seems very injury prone, which has to go against him.

Be a shame, if we missed out on him, at £10m, hes a good price for a  proven premier league player.

Yeah, as far as I am aware, SSN are reporting that they are in preliminary talks with Birmingham over signing him.
