Really think some of you are underestimating the overhaul that will be done.  Doubt we'll get any superstars, but I don't think that many of last year's signings will play a big part in Rodgers's Liverpool.  I wouldn't mind something like this:

      Reina
      Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
      Lucas
      Aquilani Gerrard
      Suarez Rondon Ramirez

Worse still, he's banking on us losing Skrtel in the process.

Barring injuries of course. I really have no idea about new players because we still look like nowhere close to signing anyone.

I really doubt Suarez will be starting this game, because he would have only just come back from the Olympics. I have doubts Lucas would start too because it would be his first competeive start since December, he would probably come off from the bench to get adjusted back to premier league football.

Suarez started against Sunderland on the opening day last season having not long returned from the Copa America when we didnt think he would...

And there are two games prior to the Arsenal game if he is to be left out of any?

Yeah, I remember what you mean. Suarez came back from the Copa America and then we gave him 2 weeks off to relax, and he only had a few days training and was selected into the starting eleven when we played Sunderland on the opening day of the premier league.

When he gets back from the Olympics, he will only have a few days before the premier league campaign starts so unlike last season, he wouldn't have had that two week break, so I feel that we'd be slightly more careful on him.

Also, it is a different manager in charge so they may have different methods of bring players from injury, ie starting the player rather than bring him on from the bench.

If we do decide to rest him, by playing him on the bench for a couple of games, the Arsenal game would probably be the expected game where he'd start.

Whereas I'd agree that the new manager may have different methods in terms of balancing players when bringing them back from injuries or resting from potential fatigue he will also be aware he needs to get off to a good start as manager and will probably be wanting to get his best players out there to try to ensure that he gets a good start I would think.

But either way Suarez will be in and around while he is still at the club.

I don't think that Suarez will need a rest. The Olympics will take place during pre-season friendlies, so he would be playing anyway.  Perhaps keep him on the bench for the first game.

Is this a piss about thread or what we actually think our line up is going to be?

The OP asked for a realistic line up and then puts Alonso in, while others are picking Messi!

Sorry if I sound like a moaning b*****d but I don't see the sense in a realistic line up with players that will 100% not he here in September.

Treat it how you want Srs, I was just having a bit of fun because I have absolutely no idea who will be here in September. If you have some insight you'd wish to share, feel free. The only thing I was indicating is that I'm happy with our defence and central midfield when all fit + Suarez, beyond that we can improve massively and I hope we will. Realistic targets seem to be whoever is mentioned in the media at the time, so this thread will be full of Gaston Ramirez until we're pipped by Arsenal to his signature (hopefully not but you get my meaning.)

I have no idea either mate which is why I haven't bothered.

If were going to go down the Messi and Xabi path then may as well have it as our fantasy 11 for next season, not why we actually think might happen.

Suarez is having his break right now....

The Olympics will just be like a few weeks of international duty during the season so he'll be back starting as soon as he's back providing he's not injured.
