Reports that he will out till April. We all could have predicted the outcome of his initial minor strain. I doubt he gdts any meaningful game time with WBA.
West Brom could be relegated by the time he gets fit. I wonder whether we'd even be able to find a buyer for him at this rate!
How much longer is his contract with us?
Maybe he could try the MLS...might suit him and his lifestyle.
Only 28, crazy to think injury has robbed him of his prime/peak years and stopped him from ever reaching his full potential. Could have been up there with the likes of Aguero, Lewandowski, Kane etc.
Oh his day (when healthy) I think he was better than Kane is now.
I personally think Danny will be with us until his contract runs out. After this latest injury on loan at West Brom you would have to be brain dead to pay a transfer fee for him now, especially the amounts that we are asking for him. I'd imagine another loan to someone perhaps next season. The old Danny Sturridge is gone and I suspect we won't see that again from him.
to be fair on Sturridge, when he played he's been decent. I think if he retired now he'd have our respect, but lingering on for a free 3.5 million in wages is just leeching from us now. There really should be clauses in contracts where extended time off results in regular sick pay like anyone else. Lucky we are not paying his wages whilst he's at west brom, but we'll be lucky to find a team stupid enough to pay his wages while we transfer him to their injury bench.
When does his contract run out? I thought he was on 150K a week.
Don't know why everybody is worried about his wages...everytime he goes on the trainers table the club gets insurance payments...not like were losing money.
Surely not! Insurance companies take money they don't pay in my experiences.
They have disability insurance for every players in that squad down to U18's.There might be a 1-week exclusion period but long term injuries are covered...all teams have it.
got any sources of information? It sounds a bit farfetched to me.
