Which defenders would you like LFC to bring in and how many?

Rodgers went to holland watch Feyenoord Vs PSV talk of Stefan De Vrij...any1 know anything about him?...I hope he went to see Kevin Strootman the midfeilder supose to be very good player yet havent seen him play...

De Vrij is a good CB, pretty fast, very good build up and doesn't make mistakes very often. He's young and has just 1 year left on his contract so I think Liverpool could get him. The only dissapointment is that he doesn't really have the "body" of a defender, he isn't very strong. You're right about Strootman btw, But he would cost around 15/20 million euro. De Vrij would be around 5 to 10 I guess.

We've been linked with so many CB's already, most appear to be purely speculation.  So I'm not sure what to think just yet.  So far though I've seen various links for the following:

de Vrij
Indi-Martins
Sakho
Lovren
Dede
Ogbonna
Zambrano
Ashley Williams
Isimat-Mirin

Head is spinning with all these names.  Definitely some good talent in there, if in fact we move for any of those guys.  One thing is for sure, this has become a priority area for us heading into the crazy season.

One player I would like us to look at is Luiz Gustavo.  He is a very good and versatile player, who could play in a holding midfield role and could also fill in at CB if/when required.  Bayern may well be willing to sell him as they have another young gem coming through the ranks as a deep lying CM - Emre Can.  They have Schweini, Kroos, and Martinez as CM's, and with Emre Can coming through they may entertain a bid for Gustavo....

I've been thinking of Gustavo for a while as well, particularly in light of him having his time limited somewhat. He can fill in at LB as well, but he's probably only best used as a midfielder.

Not sure where to start with the personel, but on current form we need about four central defenders to select from and a couple each of right and left backs.  When we don't have players fighting for a berth, they  seem to get complacent in their performances. We could drop them and give them a good kick up the arse if we had enough cover.

Subotic starts all the time. He's started 21 of 27 Bundesliga fixtures - and that's keeping in mind he was injured at one point.
