Tried to give this topic a bit of a swerve as it was inevitable we'd be naval gazing about Luis and the nostalgia felt about the phenomenal player he is, or was for us and therefore it would ultimately be realistically depressing thinking about it.
As some members have said elsewhere, we needed (in the absence of Luis) to address our weaker points that we had with Luis in the side - namely the amount of goals conceded. I think Rodgers has tried to address that with signing the likes of Lovren, the possible two full backs and Can who'll add a bit more steel and bite (pun not intended) into our midfield.
Of course, with Suarez leaving it also leaves us much weaker in attack but Rodgers has brought in some attacking talent and hopefully is on the lookout for a new striker.
I don't know whether we'll be as lethal upfront as we were last season but even if our 5-3 wins from last season turn into 1-0 wins over a longer and more consistent period of time, I know I'd be grateful. Hopefully, once the season is under way and results go our way this thread will slowly sink to the bottom of the forum. If they don't, this thread and a few others will undoubtedly remain hot topics with our nostalgia turning into anger and despair. I'm hoping for the former scenario, as I believe we have the right man to coach and manage us on wards after life without Luis.
