He's blown his loan deal at Swindon...
Liverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has Swindon loan spell cut short after paying £50 fine in penniesLiverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has been sent back from a loan spell at Swindon Town after turning up late for training and then paying his £50 fine in pennies.
The 21-year-old signed for Liverpool from Tottenham last year and had been doing well for League One Swindon after being sent out by Brendan Rodgers to gain experience on a season’s loan.
However, after turning up late for training last week, Vigouroux was told he would be fined £150.
Senior players had the fine reduced to £50 in a bid to help the young Chilean, but Sportsmail understands he then turned up to pay with bank bags full of pennies.
Swindon manager Cooper is already working with a small squad and is keen to ensure that discipline is maintained. Manager Mark Cooper would only confirm: ‘It’s an internal disciplinary matter. It’s come from me and the rest of the players.’ Asked if it would cause further issues, he added: ‘It won’t, it’s been dealt with.’
Vigouroux eventually paid the original fine of £150 — this time in notes.
He was dropped to the bench for last Saturday’s 2-1 home loss to Colchester and replaced by Ty Belford who, as their only senior goalkeeper, is likely to start at Doncaster tonight.
Struggling Swindon have slipped to 17th and their striker Wes Thomas has been ruled out for a month with a hamstring injury.
