Have to say I've been impressed by all of our signings.  Nothing spectacular but have done the simple things well. All seem to have a bit of passion to do well. Clyne and Gomez look like good upgrades from last season. Ibe has the potential to be a beast and if he carries on progressing will be an upgrade on Sterling as he seems to beat the man and actually do something with the ball. Lallana has been either disappointing or missing for the larger part of the game. Lovren clumsy as usual.

This is sh*te. Anyone thinking anything else are kidding themselves on a grand scale. We are a week away from the start of the season and look as toothless and bewildered as ever.

Pretty bland first half to be honest ,there,s fck all in there that will worry Stoke thats for sure ,hope the players left behind are up too speed time that pops up. Clyne Gomez and Ibe apart very ordinary. Coutinho will improve thats for sure .

It's half the squad cautiously playing to avoiding injury one week before the season starts. I wouldn't look too much into it.

Think thats an excuse to be honest mate.

If we played a back three like we did last season I don't see why Gomez couldn't just slot in for Can and push Emre higher up.

Gomez is brilliant on the ball but I think would be much better playing in a more central position.

The way how i see it is, that we dont have the formation to tackle a team when they are defending. Its the same old, our whole midfield is static, hendo is running sidewise, doesnt make a run into their box. Even for himself or to make a room for ings.

Agree. Add Clyne to the good list.

Lallana has been sh*te, as well as Mignolet early on and Ings is underwhelming.

I said in another thread, we need strikers who can play in front of the line and create space with their movement but we've added 3 lads who don't really do that in Ings, Origi and Benteke.

We look alright until it gets in to the final third, then it all goes to sh*t. All because Ings is just sitting on the defender and not doing anything.

Think that's fair Crouchy and yeah I'd agree Clyne is definitely on the good list after that half.

Interesting to see Coutinho start more centre to right, maybe it's just where he's drifted this half but Lallana has certainly been playing from the left. I wonder when Firmino comes in if it will be a

      Lallana Coutinho Firmino

Or if Ibe will be able to push Lallana out of the starting line-up. I think Lallana offers more in terms of tracking and covering space but actual penetration and ability to beat a man I think Ibe is a level or two above Adam.

Think we've done a pretty poor job of organising these last two friendlies. Surely there wasn't only one option to have these two friendlies one day after another?

Migs kicking has been horrendous, it's not even making 40 yards out.

Again brilliant from Ibe, I think Ings should score there.

Definitely got options to choose from.

Personally i'd be going with Hendo, Milner and Can together, with Coutinho behind Firmino and Benteke.

I find it such a waste limiting Hendo or Milner. To get the best out of both, I feel we need them in that box-box role with a DM to cover them.

We've attempted to put a fair few whipped and floated crosses into the box today, they'll have to be a little better for Benteke to capitalise on them.

Edit: Then Clyne puts in a beauty.

Ings again should score, it's been noticable how many more crosses we are chucking in, Benteke will be liking that.

Gomez is right footed. He keeps cutting in. Playing him Left Back makes no sense.

Because he's allowed by the defence to cut in.

He has a left foot. Showed it in Australia.

Oh I don't know, I've seen plenty great defenders make howlers on occasion.

I'd rather have great attackers than great defenders as they win you games whereas great defenders may get you draws.  There's a reason why attackers cost so much more money than defenders.

And a reason why defenders are respected more than strikers.

Origi on for Ings who tends to pull wide so will hopefully create more space in the middle for Cou, Hendo and Milner.

Yeah, I noticed this too. That's what you get for playing a right footer there. Would rather a left footer who'll offer width and more prone to overlapping.
