I would expect it actually. He clearly feels he's fit enough for football, and by then he will have trained several times.

Of course he's fit enough for football, he has played for Southampton a few months now? He should be fit. Think it's just that given the circumstances, he is now able to rest both Lovren and Klavan. Tactically, as a defender, there won't be that much to this game. We'll be dominating the majority of possession.

The City game will be something entirely different from a tactical viewpoint as we won't have the ball as much. Keeping shape, holding the defensive line, communication etc. will be key in that game. He will only have trained with the squad for two weeks by then. Given Klopp's record with new players and how long it usually takes for him to start them (today is already a big surprise), I don't see it as a given at all that he's starting against City. It could happen of course, but I don't expect it at all.

Good to see big Virgil being put straight in. Why wait? Him and Matip would be my first choice partnership, so I like that as well.

Interesting to see how Karius does as well. Mind you if Everton play like last time he might not have much to do.

Rest of the team is fine, although I'd have rested Lallana and played Solanke, but basically I take it as a good sign that Jürgen thinks Lallana is upto speed already.

Fully expect us to win this. Revenge for them robbing a point off us previously will be on everybody's mind. I think we'll destroy them to be honest.

Be a few tasty tackles coming in early on, we need to stay strong but not get over excited. Wouldn't put it past Fat Sam to throw a pie at Jurgan....half eaten one that is..

Available or not, I said I don't like it. I didn't apportion blame.

Like the Burnley game, it looks.like we may have to struggle through this unless the lads all click together.

Given the lads available, I'd have Lovren ahead of Matip. A  complete switch of CB's is risky especially as VVD has not played a minute of football for us.

Can I don't rely on right now. His head is gone, and unless things are going well around him, he tends to be anonymous bar one or two solo runs.

I disagree about the centre backs, I think VVD is exactly what matip needs in a partner.

Fat Sam just said he's playing 9 at the back...Rooney will be deep..have to watch his long balls...did us with a long cross ball that led to the penalty. So Rooney the danger man. Milner and Can close him down sharply.

Have to watch Calvert Lewin - a renowned diver so our players will have to watch for con tricks like that, as per usual from Everton and Sam Allardyce.

Looking for a big game from Robertson, could be the key man down the left.

As much as we are the better side, we will miss mo and Couts in a game like this. VVD hasn’t played the last 3 for Saints so not likely to be match fit.
Don’t like Can and Milner in the middle together, bit slow on the recovery if it’s needed.
Hoping Mane and Lallana are inventive enough to break down the expected 10 man wall.
Think we’ll win, but not as convinced as most that it’s gonna be a stroll in the park.
We’re gonna need to counter the bombs forward to anyone in blue who can get close to the ball and dive all over the place.
Bit worried/nervous, but think we’ll edge it.

Be anything but a stroll in the park. Very hard tough game with frisky tackles coming in. Need to get out with a win and less than 10 stitches..

Why does Alan Shearer hate us so much! He never has a good word to say about us and tonight is no exception. Can’t stand him! Come on you Reds!
