I would expect it actually. He clearly feels he's fit enough for football, and by then he will have trained several times.
Of course he's fit enough for football, he has played for Southampton a few months now? He should be fit. Think it's just that given the circumstances, he is now able to rest both Lovren and Klavan. Tactically, as a defender, there won't be that much to this game. We'll be dominating the majority of possession.
The City game will be something entirely different from a tactical viewpoint as we won't have the ball as much. Keeping shape, holding the defensive line, communication etc. will be key in that game. He will only have trained with the squad for two weeks by then. Given Klopp's record with new players and how long it usually takes for him to start them (today is already a big surprise), I don't see it as a given at all that he's starting against City. It could happen of course, but I don't expect it at all.
