There is absolutely no evidence that we tried to renegotiate the deal.
Of course, that's why I stated we don't really know for sure what happened. We can only speculate, but IMHO the renegotiation following a problem detected in the medical is the most plausible avenue.
The reason this theory is the one that sticks the most is that the player's done an interview, took pictures with the shirt on (or was maybe photoshopped into one, but by our people in an official manner) and all that... my only guess is that for all of this to happen you must've come down to an agreement with the selling party otherwise how do you end up interviewing the guy as a new signing?
With that being said, what can happen at this point to make the deal fall through? Its either we tried renegotiating, Lyon tried renegotiating, Lyon had a change of heart or we simply canceled the whole thing. In two of those cases, we backtracked for a reason...most plausible one being the medical.
I say all that, but that's just personal theories and I understand that I could be very wrong. We'll end up knowing the truth at some point. In the meantime, let's hope we find a suitable replacement and complete the other transfers Klopp needs before pre-season rolls around.
