Revamping the midfield.....about time. Only Milner offered a near full package of tools but time is working against him.
Can......no regrets letting him walk. Great straight away speed and nerve. Few ball skills. Clunky defense.
Coutinho......despite his astronomical valuation, he should not be a centerpiece of any offense. Relying on 30 meter strikes through 11 defenders has its limits. Tremendous ball skills, tremendous creativity, big leg, lightning quick....but also......slow top gear and zero defensive ambition. Barca will regret their overpay. Happy Liverpool cashed out and even happier the front 3 are the focal point.
Henderson.....a better Can. Fine athlete but few soccer skills.
Milner......the best of the lot. I was skeptical at first....but his value to the team was undeniable.
Chamberlain....his speed through the middle put teams in jeopardy. The guy just needs experience. He was on his way until the injury. Fingers crossed
Lallana....I don't understand the love for this guy. Ignoring his injury history.....yes he has skill but the guy plays meek and isn't a top of the table caliber athlete. Brits seem to always overvalue their own. And of course his injury history should not be ignored...refer to Sturridge. Lallana is strictly depth...no more IMO
The new middies.....athleticism plus ball skills.....a refreshing change (I hope)
OT: Why is Albert Moreno still around? The guy has no business playing defender for any level let alone Liverpool. He needs to rethink his position and find a team that will let him run in space and requires little defensive ambition. MLS?
More OT: For next season, I'd like to see Liverpool's Big 3 be even more unselfish. At times, Mane seemed to be in goal scoring competition vs Salah....and at times Salah was thinking records. These 3 were at their best when they worked in harmony. Tough to complain....but I saw many lost opportunities.
Speaking of which...watching Mane vs the best in Europe, I can now appreciate what a superior athlete he is. Many teams had no answer. Mane's main problem is Mane. A bit self confident holding the ball too long, too many offsides, too many fouls. This guy could be a great if he can bring it all together. I felt the same way about Suarez after his first year at Liverpool. The guy couldn't get his shots on net. One year later.....he carried the team.
Can't wait to see this trio with a year under their belt.....with midfielders that take pressure off them.
